In this series, we will be a look at some quick hitters, the top player, potential breakout player, other roster roster members and notable games of the upcoming season. For today’s spotlight, we take a look at the Crispus Attucks Tigers.
Quick Hitters
- Finished 18-8 last season
- Lost to Cathedral in Sectionals
- 10-straight winning seasons
- One of the favorites to win Class 4A State this season
- Chris Hawkins returns for 8th year as head coach. 133-50 overall record as head coach.
Top Player(s): Ron Rutland III Ron Rutland III 6'1" | SG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN / Dezmon Briscoe Dezmon Briscoe 6'9" | PF Crispus Attucks | 2025 State #107 Nation IN
Rutland and Briscoe is another guard/big duo in the state that could make a case for the best 1-2 punch combo. Starting with Rutland, the U-Indy commit is one of the best guards in the in-state 2024 class because of his knockdown three-point shooting, fluid athletic ability and just overall scoring ability. Switching over to Briscoe, this 2025 big is making a name for himself at a rapid pace. During the summer AAU season, he showed an improved ability to stretch the floor while maintaining his dominance in the paint on both ends of the floor. With this combination of Rutland and Briscoe, Crispus Attucks is going to be a tough team to beat this season.
Potential Breakout Player: Mason Lewis Mason Lewis 5'9" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN
Lewis will be the main on-ball guard for Crispus Attucks and will almost always get the offense going for the Tigers. Transferring from North Central to Crispus Attucks for his senior season, Lewis is a 5’9 quick point guard with a tight handle. Gets downhill to the rim in a hurry. He runs an offense so well and can either make plays for himself or teammates with his excellent court vision. He makes this Crispus Attucks team better which should see him have a breakout senior season.
Other Important Roster Members
- Demetrius Jenkins Demetrius Jenkins 6'2" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN – Jenkins is another senior backcourt rotation piece that will be solid for the Tigers throughout the season. He stands out with his excellent physical tools and athleticism. He is a smooth left-hander that displays his pull-up jump shot and some explosiveness when driving to the basket.
- Chris Hurt Chris Hurt 5'11" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2025 State IN – Hurt will be a great rotation piece for the backcourt of Crispus Attucks this season. Hurt is a quick guard that looks to push the tempo when he can. He is a lead guard that makes plays happen.
- Eric Jackson Eric Jackson 6'6" | PF Crispus Attucks | 2025 State IN Jr. – A 6-5 junior that should see a role increase for this season for the Tigers. Another versatile option for the Tigers.
