In this series, we will be a look at some quick hitters, the top player, potential breakout player, other roster roster members and notable games of the upcoming season. For today’s spotlight, we take a look at the Ben Davis Giants.
Quick Hitters
- Finished with a 33-0 undefeated season
- Won Class 4A State Championship over Kokomo
- Don Carlisle returns for 6th season as Giants head coach. 144-66 records overall as a head coach.
- Coming off third straight winning season.
Top Player(s): K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN / Mark Zackery Mark Zackery 6'0" | PG Ben Davis | 2025 State #398 Nation IN
You could make a strong case that Ben Davis has the BEST backcourt in the state this upcoming season. Both Windham and Zackery are coming off of huge summers and both showed great upside as a duo in June. Starting with Windham, the talented guard had a breakout spring/summer which ultimately led him to signing to play in the Big Ten for Northwestern. As for Zackery, even though he is a elite, proven football prospect, he is a fantastic basketball player and overall highly athletic person. With these guy’s skill, talent, level and overall IQ…they are going to lead Ben Davis to many wins this season.
Potential Breakout Player: Mark White
When it comes to role of the top wing on this team, that job goes to SF Mark White. The 6’3″ wing is strong and athletic off of the dribble that he is nearly impossible to stop when attacking closeouts and getting downhill to the rim. Then, on the defensive end, he has active hands and plays so hard that he is constantly taking the ball from his man. While Windham and Zackery may get all the attention heading into the season, White is going to help Ben Davis win a lit of games this year. Name to keep a close eye on.
Other Important Roster Members
- Dhani Flannigan Dhani Flannigan 5'10" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State IN – Flannigan comes into this season after transferring from Franklin Central but will instantly boost the backcourt rotation of the Giants. Fought a lot of injuries last season but when healthy the 5’10” point guard is super dynamic off of the dribble with the ability to create for himself and his teammates.
- Tavion Williams Tavion Williams 6'7" | PF Ben Davis | 2025 State IN – As a junior, Williams is expected to play a major role in the frontcourt of Ben Davis season. He is a lanky post prospect with a lot of long term upside.
- Kylin Higgins Kylin Higgins 6'2" | SG Ben Davis | 2026 IN – He may only be a sophomore so his minutes may vary, but Higgins as a ton of upside as a two-guard for the Giants. He was a stock riser for us in the Spring and is very shifty with the ball in his hands, gets into the paint consistently off of the dribble, and displayed some scoring chops from different spots on the floor
