Mid-September Bartlett High hosted the annual PrepHoops 250 Expo with wonderful talent. The following evaluations are exclusively focused on Team 5 players.
Chase Prince Chase Prince 5'9" | SG Franklin Road Christian School | 2027 TN (Franklin Road Christian School)
Helped appropriately on defense. Finished a beautiful baseline floater upon following his own missed corner three-pointer with a rebound.
Jaydon Hill Jaydon Hill 5'9" | PG Memphis Central | 2027 State TN (Memphis Central)
Fast in the open floor. Very comfortable using his left hand bursting by retreating defenders. Hill’s speed with the dribble and decision-making going full speed stood out as strong abilities.
Jaydon is a freshman and often deferred to the older guards. Hill can dribble, but he was not allowed to show much as a primary ball-handler. Caswell and Matthews dominated the ball.
Parker Hampton Parker Hampton 5'10" Central | 2026 TN (Knox Central)
Classic point guard. Some wiggle. His body control mid-air was nice. Needs to bulk up though. He has some mental toughness that helps him in contact plays. Plays with tenacity. Parker’s on-ball defense was not good against Rhett Broussard Rhett Broussard 6'2" | PG Goodpasture Christian School | 2025 State TN . To be fair Rhett scored on almost everybody Saturday and yet Parker will need to keep players of Rhett’s ilk in front of him better this high school season.
Ethan Caswell Ethan Caswell 6'3" | PG Bolton | 2026 State TN (Bolton)
Ethan Caswell Ethan Caswell 6'3" | PG Bolton | 2026 State TN was quick and dynamic. He is a strong attacker with the dribble, but the ball tended to get “sticky” in his hands when he could have found an open teammate. Big strides helped him once he made the initiating move. Caswell was one of the best on-ball defenders in the building. Quick feet. High intensity. Fast with the basketball. Unconvincing as a shooter beyond 12′ in the first half of the first game. He warmed and hit two in a row after the break.
Natural leader.
Timothy Matthews Timothy Matthews 6'3" | SF Hamilton | 2025 State TN (Manassas)
Showed a tendency to over-dribble several times. His team and he did best when he decided to draw and dish instead of draw, draw, draw and then force the ball. Matthews showed a decent crossover, but his natural athleticism while possibly enough at some varsity levels needs to be infused with some “weight room explosiveness.’ His game is starved for some plyometric-training. Shot selection was not the best. He can make outside shots. He can make layups. Judging purely by his Saturday he needs to recognize his highest percentage opportunities and hunt those more often. Made some challenging layups with his left hand.
Braedon Kelley Braedon Kelley 6'5" | SG East Hickman | 2024 State TN (East Hickman)
Not smooth shifting from defensive rebounder to fastbreak initiator via the dribble. Braedon appears most comfortable as a 2-3 wing. He is more alive when the basketball is coming to him than when the ball is on the other side. Of course, everybody wants the basketball. Still, he must develop more activity and tenacity moving away from the basketball, creating, tugging the defender and making him work throughout the possession.
Braedon has a good frame, solid shoulders.
Lateral mobility needs to improve. The quickest guards can blow by him in the open floor.
Patient. BK can shoot, but does not force his shot. He elected to pump-fake away a modestly open shot, then stepped in drawing a help defender. Immediately, he shoveled a pass to the evacuated man. Bottoms. An open shot created entirely by Kelley’s patience and basketball brain.
He did something similar minutes later. Kelley is a perfect halfcourt passer. He can turn an ok shot look for him into a high-percentage chance for his teammate.
Harrison Rollins Harrison Rollins 6'4" | SF King's Academy | 2024 State TN
Beautiful low-post footwork. Rugged. Physical. Smooth free throw shooter. Harrison can improve his top-line speed to become more dangerous running out. Rollins performed a beautiful move midway through his opening game. After setting two screens he flared to the top of the key, ready for a pass. Instead of standing long he cut with purpose and Timothy Matthews Timothy Matthews 6'3" | SF Hamilton | 2025 State TN lofted a perfect backdoor pass. Rollins’ activity away from the ball impressed in this sequence.
Surprisingly, Harrison knocked down the rare three-pointer that he took. His team and the opponents did not expect it, likely because he is built like a linebacker.
