The event featured high level competition and great games, as well as prospects for colleges of all levels moving forward.
Here’s a look at part one of some of the top 2024 performers from VA schools at the event.
Bryson Tucker | 6’7” CG | Bishop O’Connell
Tucker is widely considered one of the top pro prospects in high school, as the 6’7” combo guard has a translatable game that is very versatile to go along with his terrific positional size as well. At 6’7” he’s a smooth athlete with long arms and he gets downhill well where he can play above the rim and has good finesse as a finisher. He gets to spots off the bounce where he can use his size to rise up and make shots in the midrange, he makes plays for others and he showed takeover ability as a scorer too.
Jadyn Harris Jadyn Harris 6'6" | PF Bishop O'Connell | 2024 State #239 Nation VA | 6’6” PF | Bishop O’Connell
Harris is the top returner for an O’Connell team that features tons of talent across the board, and his leadership is going to be key for their success this year. Harris is another versatile player who is a walking mismatch at the four spot, which he showed this past weekend as his perimeter skillset allows them to give different looks. He shoots the midrange well and works well from the elbows and he’s able to face up and put it on the deck to get to the rim too.
Elijah Adegbenro Elijah Adegbenro 6'4" | PF Fairfax Christian | 2024 State VA | 6’5” F | Fairfax Christian
Adegbenro is one of the most exciting players in the 2024 class in the whole state, as he is a walking highlight reel who is also very productive at the same time. The 6’5” hybrid forward played above the rim consistently and with authority, catching lobs and throwing down big dunks both in transition and in the half court. He plays with a very high motor that makes him a good rebounder and very productive, he’s very strong in the paint and he can put it on the deck and get downhill where he can draw contact and gets to the line often.
Doyle Brown Doyle Brown 6'1" | SG Bethel Academy | 2024 State VA | 6’1” WG | Fairfax Christian
Brown was a new addition to the state championship group last year for FFC, and this year he looks like he’ll be one of the top scorers on the team and perhaps in the entire VISAA D3 classification. He showed a lot of confidence shooting the basketball, as he made shots from deep and in the midrange consistently. He worked well off the ball to get open and got to his spots off the bounce, and he also made plays defensively to get easy buckets in transition.
Ke’Juan Richburg Ke’Juan Richburg 5'7" | PG Fairfax Christian | 2024 State VA | 5’6” PG | Fairfax Christian
Richberg is the floor general and tone setter for this FFC group and was a big reason thrywon the state championship last year, and he looks like he’s improved and will be even more important this year. While he isn’t the biggest guy on the court he’s a tone setter on both ends as he makes plays for others and is a very good defender as well. He picked his spots and scored it efficiently while also controlling the tempo and getting his teammates good looks too.
Andy Ramirez Andy Ramirez 6'3" | SG Hayfield | 2024 State VA | 6’4” WG | Hayfield
While this Hayfield group has a new look, they will be very competitive this year and Ramirez looks like he might be the breakout player for them and one who college coaches could find an absolute steal in. The 6’4” wing has good positional size and is a good athlete, and he’s emerging as one of their go-to scorers and leaders this year. He shoots the ball very well from deep as he has great form and effortless range, he can attack closeouts and get to spots off the bounce and he is a good defender as well.
Owen Pottenburgh Owen Pottenburgh 6'8" | C Hayfield Secondary | 2024 State VA | 6’7” C | Hayfield
Pottenburgh is another late bloomer for this Hayfield team who has a much bigger role this year, and he has looked very good manning the paint so far for them in the two CBG sessions. He has some throwback big to him as he’s physical in the paint with soft touch around the rim, and he also shows the ability to step out where he can make shots and is a good passer too. He plays with a great motor and is willing to do the dirty work which will help them win games throughout the season.
