The PH Freshman Showcase was hosted in Longwood, FL on Sunday where prospects demonstrated their skills and competed with and against their peers. Participants showcased the results of their hard work during the offseason, while the PH Scouts in attendance took note of any standouts and potential game-changers. Let’s get into Drew’s Part I breakdown of top Big Men performers throughout this event.
Jadus Sorhaindo | F | Class of 2027 | Berkeley Prep | @Jadus38503458 | AAU: The Grind is Real / XPC Elite
No doubt, Sorhaindo was my top Big that attended the PH Freshman Showcase on Sunday. He was one of the more physical freshman prospects that understood how to use his size to dominate in the paint and on the boards. Standing at nearly 6-foot-7, Sorhaindo could still move fluidly and get up and down the court. Props to his work ethic and conditioning throughout the summer which helped keep him fresh. Once he upgrades his half-court game, Sorhaindo will be a forward prospect name to know in a short period.
Christopher Rupert | F | Class of 2027 | Orlando Christian Prep | Insta: chrisrupert_
Rupert could likely have been the tallest prospect at the PH Showcase as he was listed at around 6-foot-9. He played decently throughout the event, providing good rim protection while displaying his developing athleticism combined with the longer frame. Rupert is still figuring things out as a rising 2027 student-athlete but once he does and gets stronger with the ball, he’ll be a problem for OCP. Still, impressed with Rupert on Sunday and his ability to be a paint asset from start to finish.
Giuliani Blaise | F | Class of 2027 | Calvary Christian Academy | AAU: Atlanta Celtic | Insta: giuliani_blaise
Blaise was one of the more skilled paint beasts at Sunday’s PH Freshman Showcase as he showed off good footwork and IQ around the rim for a rising freshman. Blaise is a growing 6-foot-5 wing / forward product that will be solid in a year or two. Had a high motor and could finish consistently around the rim with decent skills with his back away from the basket.
Ja’Kavious DuBose | Wing | Class of 2027 | San Jose Prep | AAU: 904 Elites | Insta: jerseyyy___
DuBose earned his name on the list because of his untapped potential combined with a good frame for this stage. DuBose was nearly 6-foot-6 and could score the rock in a variety of ways. He impressed me with his effort on the boards but if he turns up the intensity, San Jose will have a decent freshman prospect.
