Very soon the Prep Hoops Circuit All American Team will be named and Clemmons will be listed right there with the best.
Prep Hoops Scout Max Wagner said the following about Clemmons after seeing him compete over the summer:
“John “Clemmons has been producing at such a high level over the past few months. He has one of the highest ceilings of all the players I saw over the weekend, as he mixes a 6’6 frame with athleticism, solid strength, and a perimeter skillset that makes him tough to guard. Started off the game I watched by attacking the basket with a purpose and converting on some tough looks through contact. As the game wore on, he started to go to work on the perimeter where he created space with ease before elevating into mid-range/three point shots. You don’t see a lot of guys at 6’5/6’6 who can create space and knock down shots like he can. When he’s not putting points on the board, John is a strong rebounder with the ability to high point the ball and secure it with his long wingspan.”
This summer Clemmons earned an offer from Eastern Michigan while hearing from Buffalo, Hofstra, Holy Cross, Stonehill, Boston U and Merrimack. This surprises nobody that saw him compete this summer as Clemmons after 28 points a game with double figure rebounds and 3-4 assists a contest for an NEBC team that won eight of it’s dozen games in July.
With size, skills, agility and a motor, Clemmons was one of the toughest match-ups on the Prep Hoops Circuit and that should continue into his winter season.
After watching Clemmons in Chicago this is what I had to say about the talented guard after he competed against the Minnesota Fury.
“At 6’5, 6’6 with guard skills, a strong frame, agility, and a step to do damage, John Clemmons II John Clemmons II 6'7" | SG Winchendon | 2024 State #205 Nation New E has a chance to be a very good division one college basketball player. There is experience needed making decisions with the ball but he is getting there and he almost led his team over a good Fury team. Clemmons has dribble separation ability and the pop off the separation to score with a touch. The strength to rebound and defend big wings but the agility to move with them too. He has the chance to be versatile on both ends and we saw some of that sprout last night.”
Clemmons is a name to keep on your radar as a bright future is ahead for him.
