Kelly Pierce and Jason Schmidt coached this group. There is a mix of AA, A, and B talent on this squad. Expect a big senior season from these ballers. Time to talk some hoops….
ND Attack 17U Blue had a very good spring/summer season. The team’s overall record was 17-15 against strong competition. The team was made up of several multi-sport athletes who had to juggle their schedule for AAU Tournaments with high school, legion baseball tournaments, and several prospective football camps also taking place. Even with the non-stop schedules, the players showed up and improved tremendously from the beginning of the season until the end. The team really meshed and became one unit that relied on team concepts to be successful and displayed toughness that many AAU teams lack.
ND Attack 17U Blue ended up winning their division at the Sanford Spring Jam in April and had three 2nd Place finishes throughout the year. The team overall had a very successful season and the players will now go on to lead their high school teams as senior leaders.
“This team was a great team to coach and the season was a success! Coach Schmidt and myself are very excited to watch the players during their senior seasons at their high schools. They are a great group of basketball players, but even better individuals off the court! They are leaders and will no doubt be difference makers on their high school teams!” -Kelly Pierce
Player Comments from Coach Pierce
#4 – Josh Groninger Josh Groninger 5'10" | CG South Prairie | 2024 State ND 2024 – 5’10” Guard – South Prairie
“Josh had a successful year and showed tremendous growth as a lead guard. He demonstrated the ability to run a team and is a very capable floor general. He is a very good perimeter shooter and improved in his ability to understand good shot vs. bad shot. Defensively, he showed he can lock in and defend on the perimeter. I see him being a leader for South Prairie High School and having a strong senior season!“
#5 – Everett Fedje Everett Fedje 6'3" | SF Drayton/Valley-Edinburg | 2024 State ND 2024 – 6’2” Guard – Drayton/Valley/Edinburg
“Everett was a newcomer to the team this season but made an immediate impact. Everett is a scorer. He can really shoot it from the perimeter and has a nice mid-range game. He is a long, athletic wing who uses that length to his benefit both offensively and defensively. As he became more comfortable with this team, you could see him become more aggressive offensively, and was able to hit key shot after key shot throughout the summer tournaments. Everett is a prospect that can play at the next level and will have a great high school season this coming winter.“
#10 – Cameron Sys Cameron Sys 6'4" | SF South Prairie | 2024 State ND 2024 – 6’4” Forward – South Prairie
“Cameron was another newcomer to the team this year. He fit in nicely with his versatility as he was able to make some perimeter shots and score in the paint with his length and uncanny ability to rebound the ball offensively. Cameron was able to find his role on this team by being a strong defender and rebounder. He grew more confident as the season went on and will use that growth to help lead his high school team this coming season.“
#13 – Maddox Pierce Maddox Pierce 5'11" | SG Hettinger/Scranton | 2024 State ND 2024 – 5’11” Guard – Hettinger-Scranton
“Maddox had an outstanding season for
ND Attack
. He became a difference-maker on the defensive end of the floor. He displayed the quickness and toughness to stay in front of players on the perimeter and was not afraid to mix it up with players much taller and longer in the post. He was asked to defend the other team’s best offensive perimeter player, and he took that challenge to heart and became a stopper for the team. He has a football build and mentality to his game, he was able to use his strength to get
to the basket and finish around the rim. He has nice range on his perimeter jump shot and can play the point guard position when needed. Maddox will be a leader for the Hettinger-Scranton Night Hawks this season.“
#15 – Brycen Hoffer Brycen Hoffer 6'2" | SG Horace | 2024 State ND 2024 – 6’2” Guard – Horace
“Brycen fit in perfectly with this team. He is a physical wing player that competes at an extremely high level. Offensively he displayed the ability to stretch the defense with a strong perimeter shot but was at his best putting pressure on the defense by getting downhill at creating opportunities for himself and his teammates. Defensively, he did a nice job containing athletic wings and rebounded the ball at a high rate. He did all the little things that make teams successful and I see him having a strong season at West Fargo Horace this upcoming season.“
#24 – Riley Robinson Riley Robinson 5'11" | SG Midway/Minto | 2024 State ND 2024 – 5’11” Guard – Midway/Minto
“Riley was an absolute terror on the defensive end of the court. He put pressure on the other team’s point guard for the length of the court and made it hard for the opposition to get into continuity offensively. He is a long, athletic guard who can get to the paint as well as shoot the ball from the perimeter. He really understands player and ball movement on the offensive end of the court which made him a constant threat to score the basketball. Riley will continue to be a leader for his high school team and will have an outstanding senior season.“
#25 – Landon Olson Landon Olson 6'3" | PF Hillsboro/Central Valley | 2024 State ND 2024 – 6’2” Forward – Hillsboro-Central Valley
“Landon had a great season for ND Attack . He plays so much bigger than his 6’2” measurable and displayed a toughness and work ethic that no other player displayed. He is a dynamic athlete who is a quick jumper and plays with a physical presence. He ran the floor very well and is an elite offensive and defensive rebounder. He used his quickness and athleticism to defend the post and has a great understanding of pushing players off the block. Landon’s work ethic is contagious, and he will have an outstanding season for the Burros this winter!“
#22 – Trevor Schmidt Trevor Schmidt 6'5" | SF South Border | 2024 ND 2024 – 6’3” Forward – South Border
“Trevor was a focal point of our team philosophy. He displayed incredible footwork on the offensive end of the floor and used this skill set to score the basketball at a high rate. He is a high IQ player who not only scores from all three levels of the court but also is a great passer out of double teams and he finds his teammates for scoring opportunities. Schmidt used the AAU season to improve his perimeter jump shot and range, which could make him a great fit for teams at the next level. He is a long 6’3”, which makes him a great rebounder on both ends of the court. Trevor will be one of the top players in Class B this upcoming senior season and will be a leader for his high school team.“
#42 – Deng Dut Deng Dut 6'1" | SF Horace | 2024 State ND 2024 – 6’1” Forward – Horace
“Deng really improved his overall game throughout the year. He started as a perimeter catch-and-shoot player but became more versatile as the season went on. He has a nice feel for when to make himself available on basket cuts and added transition play to his game. Deng was a strong rebounder for the team and developed an understanding of team defensive principles. I am looking forward to seeing how this expanded game assists him moving into his senior season at West Fargo Horace!“
