Q&A with Jordan Maurer
PHD: How would you sum up the season for your squad?
“We felt our season was a bit disappointing, but the potential really there moving forward. Obviously, you are not going to always win every close game, but 15-13 quickly goes to 20-8 if we are able to pull out some more of those 1 possession games. That said, with the number of injuries and players that we had missing for various reasons, some of the continuity that we are used to was not there.“
PHD: What are some of the highlights from the season?
“At the 15U level, there is not a lot of above-the-rim play. I know that the players found it fun that we had 5 different players get dunks in the season.“
PHD: Who were a couple of your top shooters?
“ Braylen Schirado Braylen Schirado 6'0" | CG Beulah | 2026 State ND was our top shooter this season and from what I have seen, stands at the top of the podium when compared to the rest of the 2026 Class in the Class B ranks in ND. He can create his own shot, curl for 3’s going both directions, hit off pin downs, etc. Even playing up in the top 16U Divison, the level of competition did not negatively impact his shot-making ability.“
PHD: Who was your most improved player?
“ Sage Hanson Sage Hanson 6'8" | SF TGU | 2026 State ND was our most improved player. He really started to find his confidence in scoring at all levels and truly became a shot-blocking and rebounding menace. I think Sage will be one of the, if not the, hardest recruited players in the ND class of 2026. Kenyatta White Kenyatta White 6'3" | SF Bismarck | 2026 State ND really took steps forward from what he showed in the high school season. He has the ability to make shots from all 3 levels. Kenyatta can score in a mismatch and he can make plays above the rim. He is one of the more intriguing players that we have in the program as far as current production levels compared to upside.“
PHD: Who were some of your hardest workers?
“ Hayden Seay Hayden Seay 5'9" | PG Bishop Ryan | 2026 State ND really stood out. In short, he did not let his lack of size get exploited on the defensive end of the floor, which was truly impressive.“
PHD: Who was your best defensive player?
“ Sage Hanson Sage Hanson 6'8" | SF TGU | 2026 State ND , Bennett Larson Bennett Larson 6'7" | C Stanley | 2026 State ND , and Brooks Bakko Brooks Bakko 6'4" | PG Kindred | 2027 State ND really anchored our defense. All contested shots and rebounded at a high clip. We felt our half-court defense was very solid this season, and those 3 are a big reason why.“
