Jaxon Jarmu Jaxon Jarmu 6'0" | PG Marquette | 2025 MI 6-0 2025 Marquette One of the surprises of the camp for me. However it had little to do with his play in scrimmages. I caught him in a midseason tournament this year. So I knew he could play. However he tested as one of the best athletes in the camp. I am from Northern Michigan so that surprise is not some regional bias. He is not built like your normal speed demon type point guard. Nevertheless posted the single fastest lane agility time in the camp. Also posted a blazing 3/4 court sprint. Played well in scrimmages showing the ability the play with pace and composure. With his top shelf athleticism could be one of the top players in the Upper Peninsula in the 2025 class.
Joe Gaffney Joe Gaffney 5'9" | PG Charlevoix | 2026 State MI 5-8 2026 Charlevoix Gaffney continued to show the skill set that has him in early contention for the top spot in the 2026 class regionally. Not very big but makes up for it in a variety of ways. Almost like a running back plays with a low center gravity. Also jumps off two feet on drives. Helps him play with aggression while maintaining control. Isn’t going to pick up silly offensive fouls. Is a good shooter with very deep range. Helps defenses honest and open up driving lanes. More than just a scorer. Good live dribble passer who plays with his head up. I raved about Jarmu’s athletic testing. Gaffney wasn’t far behind. Posted an eye opening max vert of 10’10. That was right up there with the other high flyers in the camp.
Jack Hogan 6-1 2025 Traverse City Central Hogan played well at both Grand Valley and Ferris on the weekend. Plays with Anthony Ribel Anthony Ribel 6'3" | SG Traverse City Central | 2024 State MI in the regular season so is accustomed to playing off the ball. In these two camps got to show off his point guard and playmaking chops. Was a good penetrator to both sides. Also has good size and length for the position. Didn’t shoot it particularly well in what I viewed. However I have seen him shoot it better in other settings. Tested himself this summer with Motor City Grizzlies this summer. If the shot keeps coming along. Could be near the top of what is a still a wide open 2025 class in Northern Michigan.
Cameron Gunsell 6-2 2026 Ludington (pictured) Coming off a very strong grassroots campaign with Hardwood Midwest on the Prep Hoops Circuit. Kept up his strong play on Sunday. Having seen him overpower a lot of defenders his age group this summer. It was nice to see how he expanded his game a bit against older opponents. Drove to the basket without fear while absorbing and finishing through contact. Showed enough ball handling to possibly shift to the backcourt if he is done growing. Plays at a storied program where a college coach will not have to worry about his defense. After playing JV last year. Should be ready for a larger role on a squad that will be one of the better Division II teams in the region.
Ryan Patterson 6-6 2024 St Helen Charlton Heston Academy Let’s be clear. This player would be a project at the next level. Is somewhat limited athletically. However they say you can’t teach size— and Patterson has size. Is a legit 6-6 and about 290 pounds. Simply isn’t going get pushed around on the blocks. As an added bonus is competitive and appears to like contact. Has a very soft touch on his shot. Both at the rim and even beyond the arc. Makes up for the lack of elevation with an extremely high arc that lands softly. If a coach is looking for a possible late bloomer with plus size. Patterson might fit the bill.
