“This season was great for the Selects team. We were able to see everyone get better and really grow as a team. When we had our whole group we were tough to stop this spring and summer. The guys really put it together out there and we were playing our best basketball late in the year!” -Colton Lund
Player Comments from Coach Lund
Oliver Jensen Oliver Jensen 6'1" | SF Bismarck Century | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’0 SF| Century
“Ollie is one of the hardest working kids I have ever had the pleasure of coaching. Showed up to every tournament and went as hard as he possibly could. Really shot it well this summer and as the summer went on did a much better job taking care of the ball. One kid I never had to think twice if he was going to box out and pursue a defensive rebound.“
David Schilling David Schilling 6'3" | SF Fargo North | 2024 ND (2024) |6’3 SF| North
“David had a great summer. David is one of the most talented players on the floor when he is going 100%. His potential is through the roof and his athletic ability almost sneaks up on opponents being a great shot blocker in transition.“
Kale Schommer Kale Schommer 6'5" | SF Bismarck Century | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’4 F| Century
“Kale is one of the most athletic guys on the team. He can really defend the ball with pressure and was great at getting O-boards for us this year. Kale has huge potential to become a great player for Century this year, his athletic ability alone makes him tough for offensive players to get past.“
Bishop Duffield Bishop Duffield 6'2" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’1 G| Bowman
“Bishop is one of the better shooters on the team. He really excelled in offensive rebounding this year, flying to the glass for extra possessions. No doubt is ready to have a great senior year at Bowman County!“
Bohden Duffield Bohden Duffield 6'1" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’1 G| Bowman
“Bohden is an athlete! Great at finishing around the rim and can really fill it up when he gets going. Throughout the year he really progressed in his ability to use the pick and roll and get great shots for himself or teammates. He is set for a huge year.“
Ajura Spears Ajura Spears 6'4" | PF Bismarck Century | 2024 ND (2024) |6’4 PF| Century
“AJ was a great BIG man this year. When he wanted, his post presence was felt, esp ECI ally when we played Comets Petermeier at Wayzata, he was doubled for the majority of the game. AJ was also one of our better rebounders this year he really took a step on the O boards.“
Turo Moni Turo Moni 6'8" | PF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’8 F| Sheyenne
“Another 2-year kid for me. If you took Turos on-the-block post presence at the beginning of the summer and compared it to now you would be shocked at how far he has come in these last 3 months. He has great potential for a big year.“
Carson Eggert Carson Eggert 6'4" | PG Valley City | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’3 G| Valley City
**See the Most Improved Player section below.
Tate Parson Tate Parson 5'10" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2024 ND (2024) |5’10 G| Red River
“It’s been great to coach Tate these last 2 years. One of the few kids that when he really wants to can get going from 3 he can hit many shots and also make somebody miserable on the defensive end.“
Tyson Wick Tyson Wick 6'2" | PG Hazen | 2024 State ND (2024) |6’2 G| Hazen
“Only played a couple of tournaments with us to start the year, but was one of the better ball-handlers on the team and had a great basketball IQ as a PG.“
Q&A with Colton Lund
PHD: What are some highlights that stick out?
“This season brought many highlights! We had games where Turo Moni Turo Moni 6'8" | PF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2024 State ND got hot from deep. In one game in Chicago, everyone had a couple of 3s and David Schilling David Schilling 6'3" | SF Fargo North | 2024 ND hammered a dunk down Main Street. Bohden Duffield Bohden Duffield 6'1" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND had a terror of games in Chicago getting hot from deep as well. The biggest highlight would be the team finally playing their best ball in Chicago heading out of there boasting a 4-0 record!“
PHD: How did you overcome adversity?
“We had to overcome some adversity this year, missing someone at every tournament except the very first one. It’s always tough playing without everyone there on a consistent basis but the guys battled!“
PHD: Who was your best shooter?
“ Turo Moni Turo Moni 6'8" | PF West Fargo Sheyenne | 2024 State ND – Great catch-and-shoot ability. With his feet set always thought it was going in.“
“ Bohden Duffield Bohden Duffield 6'1" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND – Great ability to hit tough jumpers and create his shot.“
“ Bishop Duffield Bishop Duffield 6'2" | SG Bowman County | 2024 State ND – Great catch-and-shoot guy. With his feet set, another kid I thought the ball was going in every time.“
PHD: Who improved the most this season?
“Most Improved – Carson Eggert Carson Eggert 6'4" | PG Valley City | 2024 State ND , the kid went 100% all summer long and came in as almost strictly a catch-and-shoot guy. By the end of the summer, he was one of the best defenders on the team and could rip and go past any defender.“
PHD: Who worked the hardest on your team?
“Hardest workers – Oliver Jensen Oliver Jensen 6'1" | SF Bismarck Century | 2024 State ND and The Duffield Boys. No doubt in my mind, any college coach would love to have a guy like Ollie on the team. Plays hard all the time, is a great teammate, and never takes a game off. Tough as nails kid. The Duffield boys saddled up to play every game as well, being ball-hawks on defense and never taking a play off offensively. Getting extra rebounds became a strength for Bishop by year’s end.“
PHD: Who was your best defender?
“ Oliver Jensen Oliver Jensen 6'1" | SF Bismarck Century | 2024 State ND was the best defensive player on my team. Went hard 24/7 and would pick guys up half or 3/4 court and make things difficult for them.“
PHD: What tournament was the most fun?
“Chicago was the most fun. 4-0 and played together!“
