Continue ReadingWe are currently in the process of updating our class rankings in the state of VA, so I thought it would be a fun time to look at who I would rank as the top 25 players regardless of class in the state. It’s a tough task as it involves looking at projections of younger players who still have a lot of growing and maturing to do versus older players who are more college ready now. However, it’s a fun way to look at and compare some of the top players across the state and their projections moving forward.
Obviously this is not perfect and a lot of things will change over the next few years, so let the debating begin!
* Side Note: We do our rankings as a team, while these are my personal opinions. Not everything will align with our last rankings or our future rankings moving forward.
10) Christian Anderson Christian Anderson 6'1" | PG Oak Hill Academy | 2024 State #69 Nation VA | 6’0” PG | Oak Hill 2024
Anderson comes to Oak Hill this year from Georgia where he was one of the top guards in the state over the past few years and is already committed to Michigan for next year. The 6’0” point guard is a nationally ranked prospect with an all-around game as both as a playmaker and scorer who can do a little bit of everything off the bounce. He plays with great pace and has good burst to get by defenders and touch the paint, he can create space and make shots from all three levels and he has a natural leadership tendency to his game too.
9) Kosi Mgbejiofor Kosi Mgbejiofor 6'10" | C Winston-Salem Christian | 2026 State NC | 6’9” C | Catholic 2026
Mgbejiofor may be a project moving forward but he has all the tools of a very intriguing new age big man with his ability to run and jump at his size. At 6’9” he moves unlike many players his size as he runs the floor like a gazelle and he’s very explosive off his feet allowing him to make plays on both ends that others simply can’t make. He finishes above the rim on duck ins and put backs on a regular basis, he is an elite shot blocker already and as he continues to develop his offensive game he’ll has so much upside moving forward it’s easy to see why he already holds high major offers.
8) Micah Robinson | 6’5” WF | Oak Hill 2024
Robinson was Oak HIll’s top player in Coach Yerrick Stoneman’s first season at the helm, and the way he played with Southern Assault this summer as well as a more established group around him he’ll be one of the top players in the NIBC this year. He oozes versatility as he has the size and strength to play both on the perimeter and be a good rebounder and finisher in the paint. He handles the ball well and can create shots for himself and others, he plays with a good motor and he’s a big time finisher which is why he’s a high priority for a number of high major programs right now.
7) Isaiah Abraham Isaiah Abraham 6'7" | SG Paul VI | 2024 State #62 Nation VA | 6’6” WF | Paul VI 2024
The UConn commit has shown a lot of great tools in his career, but one of the most impressive things about him is the selflessness he shows with PVI playing on one of the best teams in the country and taking a smaller role, which will bold well for him in his early years with the Huskies. Abraham has the tools to one day play in the NBA, as he’s a freak athlete who brings it on both ends and finds different ways to impact the game. He’s able to play on and off the ball and has shown big improvement in his ball skills, he’s an excellent rebounder and defender for his position and his above the rim play brings great energy to his team.
6) Jordan Smith | 6’3” CG | Paul VI 2026
Smith played sparingly as a freshman but became an integral part of PVI’s success before he got hurt toward the end of the year, and this summer he played a much more pivotal role and showcased his all-around ability that makes him such a highly touted recruit. The 6’3” guard has very long arms and plays with a great motor allowing him to rebound and get deflections defensively, he’s highly efficient as a scorer and plays within his game and he’s an unselfish playmaker as well. He’s already getting recruited by some of the top programs in the country, and his willingness to do whatever it takes as well as his upside to improve moving forward makes him highly sought after.
