Safe to say teams were cooking and competing at a high level regardless of the bracket. The energy on the sideline and in the stands were second to none in an electric environment, teams fought tooth and nail for Championship honors. It was hard to highlight only a few out of so many impressive prospects competing this weekend but here are my “Paint Threats” who competed in Prep Hoops Nationals.
Donovan Davis | Next Level Grind Elite
Davis is a versatile wing who takes on the responsibility of playing bigger for the Prep Hoops Next National Champs. A major mismatch issue for opponents, Davis was the X-Factor to his team’s success. Mobile and crafty, he provided whatever his team needed and adjusted almost effortlessly. The inside-out scorer showed great balance in his attack on the offensive end. Most impressive was his facilitating from the mid post area.
Jack Thelen | Minnesota Rush
Thelen anchored the paint at a high level for Minnesota Rush. He racked up points on sets run for him as well as second chance points via pure hustle. The mobile big man proved to be able to put the ball on the floor and support pace for his team. Thelen’s presence in the paint contributed greatly to his team’s success at Prep Hoops Next Nationals.
Asher Serlen | College Bound Elite
Serlen was a huge target for College Bound Elite at the Prep Hoops Next Nationals. He provided relief for the guard when in tough positions, in addition he facilitated at a high level from the high post area. His ability to attack off the dribble really set him apart from other forwards. Most impressive was his mobility and ball skills in the open floor
Brevin Walters | H2H Basketball
Walters was a jack of all trades for H2H Basketball. He showed up and did not back down to the bright lights of Prep Hoops Next Nationals. Whether it was anchoring the paint in zone looks or providing a big target in the paint, Walters was up for the challenge. H2H Basketball played with great pace when he was on the floor. The sharpshooting lefty made his mark attacking the paint after being run off the line.
