Today, we will continue to evaluate some highly explosive playmakers that are preparing to lock in for their final season. After breaking down some highly explosive shooting guards, it’s time to dive into the power forward position and highlight another group of rising seniors. Without any further ado, here’s my list of some impressive 2024 power forwards in Tennessee to watch out for on the court this upcoming season.
At the top of my list of notable performers is Jack Shackelford Jack Shackelford 6'7" | PF Bartlett | 2024 State TN , a 6-foot-7 power forward at Bartlett High School. Shackelford made his presence known on both sides of the court for the Panthers during his junior stint of high school basketball last year. What stands out about Shackelford is his size, speed and wingspan, using his physical edge and footwork to make a difference underneath the rim and collect second-chance opportunities. On the other side of the floor, Shackelford impressed me with his ability to block shots and contain the opposition in the paint. The rising senior out of Bartlett, TN. is definitely a high-level power forward to watch out for as he’s committed to Union University.
Another player to catch my attention is Daunte White Daunte White 6'6" | PF LaVergne | 2024 State TN , a 6-foot-6 power forward at LaVergne High School. White was one of the more efficient weapons on the Wolverines’ roster during his junior campaign of high school basketball last year. What impresses me most about White is his well-balanced playstyle, footwork and agility maneuvering the court. I also liked his ability to score around the perimeter and underneath the rim despite heavy pressure and defensive toughness. I was additionally fond of White’s hustle in transition, defensive effort and his consistent focus on collecting rebounds. After showcasing his wide array of skills last season, the rising senior out of LaVergne, TN. is worth keeping an eye on this upcoming season.

Claiming the number three spot on my list is Elijah Lussier Elijah Lussier 6'9" | PF Collierville, TN | 2024 State TN , a 6-foot-9 power forward at Collierville High School. Lussier was a highly explosive standout for the Dragons during his junior stint of high school basketball last year. In addition to excellent size, speed and physicality, what makes Lussier such a gamechanger is his quick movement, wingspan and ability to overpower the opposition in the paint. On the other side of the court, Lussier contributed solid defensive toughness while positioning himself close enough to the rim to grab rebounds. Heading into the 2023-24 campaign, the rising senior out of Collierville, TN. is definitely a power forward prospect in Tennessee to watch out for.

Another player in the state to keep an eye on is Richard Bell Jr Richard Bell Jr 6'4" | PF Northview Academy | 2024 State TN ., a 6-foot-4 power forward at Northview Academy. Bell played a huge part in the Cougars’ success on the court during his junior season with the Cougars last year. What I like about Bell is his size, speed and well-rounded team effort around the perimeter, contributing smart passing, shooting and the ability to stun defenders with his toughness in the paint. Another aspect of Bell’s game that stands out is his ability to pressure and overwhelm players on the other side, protecting the floor from around the perimeter, blocking shots and grabbing a mountain of second-chance opportunities. The rising senior out of Kodak, TN. proved he was a dangerous player to leave unchecked last season and should not be slept on as he returns to the hardwood this upcoming season.

Coming in at number five on my list of players to watch is Lucas Garman Lucas Garman 6'6" | PF Maryville | 2024 State TN , a 6-foot-6 power forward at Maryville High School. Garman was without question one of the most impactful players on the Red Rebels’ roster during his junior campaign of high school basketball last year. In addition to impressive size, speed and versatility on both sides of the floor, what makes Garman such a difference maker is his quickness in transition, composure with the ball in his hands and his consistent accuracy from range. Garman also impressed me with his ability to drive to the rim. On the other side of the court, Garman displayed excellent defensive aggression, utilizing his physicality to make stops. After a commanding performance in the 2022-23 season, the rising senior out of Maryville, TN. is definitely an intriguing power forward prospect to keep an eye on.
