Bears Tail ’24 Standouts
Wylee Delorme

His first basket of the game with a full-court run-out layup. Wylee can really get up and down the court in a hurry. He showed off his outside shot with a few three-pointers. Wylee has deep shooting range and his shot looks the same from 25 feet as it does from 15. He is deadly off the dribble and catch. He showed the ability to post up, slash, and draw fouls. Delorme is also an aggressive rebounder. On defense, I liked how he contested and went straight up on shots without fouling. Delorme will be one of the best players in class A next season. Whenever this Firebird is on the floor, make sure you are watching closely.
Carvin Fish

The BIG Hawk had multiple blocks, these showed off Carvin’s timing/anticipation/playmaking. He was also a menace on the glass. Fish crushed on the offensive end. He seems to have knack for being in the right place at the right time. Fish shared the ball and found shooters. He penetrated, drew attention, and kicked out to teammates spotting up. Carvin looked good cutting to the hoop and he was efficient shooting the rock. He had a sharp cut on a BLOB that led to 2pts and he caught short-corner and finished before the D could slow him down. His best cut came via the backdoor, it was so nice that I had to do a double-take to make sure Fish was not wearing a Warwick uniform! He set up his defender, stealthy cut, caught & finished all in a smooth motion. Carvin also scored in the PNR game with a rim-run catch-n-score. Keep track of Mr. Fish, he has the potential to be a very nice player in the EDC this next winter.
Erick Paye

He was easily one of the top athletes on the floor. Paye controlled the boards on both ends of the floor. He was extra-tough on the offensive end, Erick nabbed several O-boards and he scored with putbacks. He seems to have a 6th-sense of where the ball is going. He is also a D1 athlete, that helps a little! Paye’s defense was impressive when he contested and walled-up in front of the rim without fouling. He also had a come-out-of-nowhere block late in the game to help stifle a score. Erick put up points via slash-n-score and with a strong-man AND1 bucket. He had a powerful 2-handed WHAM and a punishing 1-handed SLAM off a post-up. Erick also showed good vision and passing. He had a sweet across-lane dime which showed off his vision and soft touch. Paye also had a timely kickout pass to Agnau for a triple. Bears Tail took the L in OT but Paye was still tough.
Moose Diomande

|6’3 G/F| Horace
He showed off his handles when he broke down a defender with a behind-the-back dribble, this left the D staggering backward and Moose drilled the jumper. He also looked good slashing baseline, he drew contact and got to the FT-line. Diomande is an aggressive slasher that can create his own shot but he also sets up others. He is a big & strong wing that should have a quality year for the Hawks.
Barry Kpeenu Barry Kpeenu 5'10" | PG Sheyenne | 2024 State ND |5’10 G| Sheyenne
He is an explosive player. Barry showed his quick hands and speed when he picked off a pass by stepping in front of a cutter. He showed his vision and passing with a nice backdoor dime to a cutting Fish. Kpeenu also had a clutch O-board tip-in basket late in the game.
John Angau

He did not have a huge game but you can tell that John is a shooter. He cashed in two triples, one in the first half and one in the second. Angau showed the ability to score with both hands at the rim. His biggest shots came late in the game from the charity stripe. Bears Tail needed them and John stepped right up and drilled both FT’s. If the Mustangs need a FT shooter late in games this winter, I hope they have Angau on the floor.
