The annual DMV Live at DeMatha, Virginia Live Period Shootout (VISAA) and Alexandria City and the first ever VA Live by the VHSL will take place at Saint James, all within a 30 mile radius of each other.
We will take the next week or so breaking down the many prospects for coaches to take a look at in these events, and there’s a TON of them.
Here’s a look at part four of the VA prospects at the Virginia Live Period Shootout we expect to make noise at the event.
Owen Gray Owen Gray 6'10" | C Steward | 2024 State VA | 6’8” PF | Steward School ’24
Gray is a player that many coaches will be watching this weekend, as he has a lot of upside with his athleticism at his size. The 6’8” forward runs the floor like a wing and when he’s in transition he’s able to gather passes in stride and rise up and finish above the rim, he’s a good screener who can roll or pop and he has good touch out to 18 feet as well.
Javon Brooks Javon Brooks 6'2" | CG Carmel | 2024 VA | 6’3” CG | Carmel School ’24
Brooks is having a great summer with Team Richmond and is starting to come into his own as a go-to playmaker and scorer, and he’s still got plenty of room to improve moving forward. He’s a naturally talented guard who can create off the bounce for himself and others, he can create space and knock down tough shots from multiple levels and he has good feel and vision as a playmaker too.
Richard Agbo | 6’7” C | Carmel School ’24
Agbo is another player on this Carmel team that has good upside and is starting to show it this summer, and while he’s still raw he has a lot of tools that bold well for him moving forward. He’s a big and physical forward who can clear out space, he’s quick and explosive off his feet to rebound and protect the rim and he plays with a very high motor on both ends of the floor.
Alex Chaikin Alex Chaikin 6'4" | SG Trinity Episcopal | 2024 State VA | 6’4” WG | Trinity Episcopal ’24
Chaikin is having a great summer with VA Premier and will have a lot of coaches keeping an eye on him this live period with his size and ability to make shots. At 6’4” he should fill out nicely and is a good athlete who can get up and down, he moves well off the ball with the ability to set his feet quickly and has great form as a shooter and he can attack closeouts and in transition where he’s a good finisher too.
Mason Patrick Mason Patrick 6'4" | SF Trinity Episcopal | 2025 State VA | 6’3” WF | Trinity Episcopal ’25
Patrick is another shot making wing for this TES team that should see his stock rise over the next year or so as he’s one of the better unknown prospects in Richmond. At 6’3” he has long arms and uses his length to get deflections on the defensive end, he can knock down shots consistently from deep and is able to get spots in limited dribbles to rise up and make contested shots in the midrange.
Michael Manser Michael Manser 6'7" | PF Virginia Academy | 2025 State VA | 6’7” PF | VA Academy ‘25
Manser has a chance to make a name for himself in front of college coaches this weekend, as he’s relatively unknown but has a lot of upside moving forward. He has good size and strength for his position and is a mismatch with his blend of size and athleticism, he can step out on the perimeter where he’s a good shooter and passer and he has a lot of room to continue to improve moving forward.
