The annual DMV Live at DeMatha, Virginia Live Period Shootout (VISAA) and Alexandria City and the first ever VA Live by the VHSL will take place at Saint James, all within a 30 mile radius of each other.
We will take the next week or so breaking down the many prospects for coaches to take a look at in these events, and there’s a TON of them.
Here’s a look at part four of the prospects at the VHSL Live Period we expect to make noise at the event.
Grant Polk Grant Polk 6'7" | PF St. Albans | 2025 State #378 Nation MD | 6’6” F | Gainesville ’24
Polk is having a huge summer with the Nova Cavs and is a player I highly recommend coaches look at with his improvements to his body and ability to knock down shots at a high rate. At 6’6” he has long arms and is a good athlete who can run in transition and finish at and above the rim, he’s a deadly shooter from deep with effortless range and a quick release and he’s able to play multiple positions depending on the look you want to go with.
Phoenix Shahateet Phoenix Shahateet 6'4" | SF Gainesville | 2024 VA | 6’4” WF | Gainesville ’24
Shahateet is one of the more underrated player sin the DMV, and while he may not be that well known his production level is off the charts. At 6’4” he has good size and is a strong wing who can take contact and play through it while handling the ball, he makes shots from all three levels with great efficiency and he has a knack for making plays on both ends of the floor.
David Miller David Miller 6'6" | PF Green Run | 2025 State VA | 6’6” PF | Green Run ’25
Miller is a very good player for a young and talented Green Run team that will be tough to beat in the 757 over the next few years, and his versatility at a young age is intriguing. He’s a strong and big bodied four man who can clear out space and is an athletic finisher in the paint, he can step out on the perimeter where he can make shots and put it on the deck and he is a productive walking double-double already.
Kassidy Jackson Kassidy Jackson 5'9" | PG Green Run | 2025 State VA | 6’0” PG | Green Run ’25
Jackson is another player that’s been a starter for Green Run from the time he stepped on the floor as a freshman, and he has natural talent with the room to continue to improve. He is one of the fastest kids you’ll see as he has a lightning quick first step and blazing speed in transition, he can put pressure on the defense with his penetration and is a good on ball defender and he’s improving as a perimeter shooter too.
Camryn Pacheco Camryn Pacheco 6'4" | CG Spotswood | 2025 State VA | 6’3” CG | Spotswood ’25
Pacheco is one of if not the best prospect in the Harrisonburg area right now, and he had a breakout sophomore season earning All State honors as he took over the go-to role for Spotswood. He has good size as a combo guard and is a talented shot maker who can knock down shots from multiple levels, he plays with a good motor and is a good defender and rebounder for his position and he can make plays for others off the bounce.
Jason Penn Jason Penn 6'2" | PG Marshall | 2024 State VA | 6’2” PG | George Marshall ’24
Penn has quietly been one of the better lead guards in Nova over the past few years, and he’ll have a chance to boost his stock this weekend in front of college coaches. The 6’2” lead guard has great poise and control of the game with the ball in his hands, he touches the paint effortlessly and can make plays for himself or others and he is a natural leader who sets the tone on both ends of the floor.
Ronier Peters Ronier Peters 6'1" | SF Fairfax | 2024 State VA | 6’1” CG | Fairfax ’24
Peters is the ultimate glue guy who makes winning plays on both ends of the floor and has the ability to impact the game both as a scorer and in other ways. He’s a high motor guard who defends with intensity and fights for loose balls, he scores it efficiently from multiple levels whether he’s on the ball or not and he can make others better as well.
Belgude Choijilsuren Belgude Choijilsuren 6'0" | SG Fairfax | 2025 State VA | 6’2” WG | Fairfax ‘25
Choijilsuren, much like his bother Margard who is heading to Randolph-Macon this year, is a talented wing who can make shots and do a little bit of everything for his team. He’s skilled offensively both on and off the basketball, he can drill it from deep at a high clip, he can put it on the deck and makes the right plays with the ball in his hands and he is a high IQ defender with good instincts.
