Obviously with this being the first one, there will be a lot of changes moving forward as players grow, develop and emerge over the next few years. The 48 player prospect rankings are just a starting point, and we’re excited to continue to monitor and learn new names moving forward.
Here’s a look at part one of the point and combo guard rankings in the 2026 class.
24) Cole Murdock Cole Murdock 6'1" | CG New Covenant | 2026 State VA | 6’0” CG | New Covenant (#48 Overall)
Murdock and his running mate above him had a great freshman year for a New Covenant team that went to the VISAA DIV semifinals, and they’ll likely have them back over the next few years. The 6’0” combo has a mix of size and physicality to go along with his ability to really shoot it from deep and in the midrange, and he’s productive as a scorer and a rebounder for his position.
23) Tristan Isenhour Tristan Isenhour 6'3" | PG New Covenant | 2026 State VA | 6’2” PG | New Covenant (#47 Overall)
Isenhour is a player who could move up this list over the next few years after helping Murdock and his team in an impressive run, and a lot of it has to do with his size at his position. At 6’2” and likely still growing, he’s a true point guard who has terrific feel and gets his team into their sets, he’s a high motor all-out type of player and when his team needs him to score he can take over the game.
22) Sam Rubino Sam Rubino 5'7" | PG Stone Bridge | 2026 State VA | 5’7” PG | Stone Bridge (#46 Overall)
Rubino is a young guard for one of the biggest schools in NOVA that has already shown he will be one to watch for as he continues to grow and develop. He’s a hard nosed tough-as-nails guard that has no issues getting under ball handlers the length of the floor, he’s quick and changes speeds well to get in the lane and make plays for others and he can make shots when he’s left open too.
21) Colin Stemberger Colin Stemberger 5'7" | PG Champe | 2026 State VA | 5’4” PG | John Champe (#45 Overall)
Don’t let Stemberger’s size or age fool you, this kid can flat out get it done and was a major impact for Champe as just a freshman and he won’t be this small forever. He’s a competitor who is fearless on both ends and moves his feet well to guard the other team’s best ball handler, he shoots the cover off of it from deep and isn’t afraid to take big shots and he plays with pace and has excellent footwork and arc on his shots around the rim and in the midrange.
20) Braxton Sebastian Braxton Sebastian 5'9" | PG Robinson | 2026 State VA | 5’7” PG | Robinson (#44 Overall)
Sebastian is another small but young guard in the NOVA area that is starting to make a name for himself after a strong freshman year on varsity. The 5’7” point guard has poise and feel beyond his years as he consistently makes the right play and stays out of traps, he can knock down shots from deep off the catch or off the bounce and he can finish over bigger defenders when he gets downhill.
19) Brayden Woods Brayden Woods 5'10" | PG Potomac | 2026 State VA | 5’10” PG | Potomac (#41 Overall)
Woods may have been behind a lot of upperclassmen this year at Potomac, but his time is coming and if he can develop on an already impressive skillset he will be one to watch in the NOVA area. The 5’10” lead guard is quick off the bounce and touches the paint where he’s a good finisher, he’s scrappy defensively and he’s an excellent playmaker for others.
18) Zyon McGlone Zyon McGlone 5'10" | PG Kings Fork | 2026 State VA | 5’9” PG | King’s Fork (#40 Overall)
McGlone was behind three seniors on a King’s Fork team that was one of the best in the 757 this year, but he’s shown flashes of brilliance and this spring with Team Push he’s shown he can play with the best of them. The 5’9” lead guard is naturally quick and shifty with the ball in his hands, he can make shots off the bounce from deep and in the midrange on the pull-up and he is a good defender as well.
17) Mikhai Martin Mikhai Martin 5'11" | PG Bishop O'Connell | 2026 VA | 5’11” PG | Bishop O’Connell (#39 Overall)
Martin is another underclassman who was overshadowed by upperclassmen on a very good team, but the two sport star has a chance to be very good in either football or basketball when he makes that decision. The 5’11” guard is a natural athlete who’s a blur in transition and has a quick first step, he scores it in bunches and his ability to put pressure on the defense off the bounce is impressive.
16) Daion Jones Daion Jones 6'0" | PG Varina | 2026 State VA | 6’0” PG | Varina (#35 Overall)
Jones is part of a talented young group in RVA on one of the most talented independent teams in River City Reign, and he’s shown that Varina has a bright future once their upperclassmen graduate. The 6’0” point guard is naturally gifted as he can create for himself and others off the bounce, he scores the ball in a variety of ways and he is a tough kid who competes on both ends of the floor.
15) Dominic Nguyen Dominic Nguyen 5'11" | PG Seton | 2026 State VA | 5’11” PG | Seton School (#34 Overall)
Nguyen is following in his brother’s footsteps at the small private school in NOVA, and he’ll have them competing with the best once the team develops and gels moving forward. He’s a true floor general who has great command of the game and poise beyond his years, he can make shots from deep and in the midrange and he catches defenses in rotation and makes great reads when he touches the paint.
