So today we will dig deeper into the Pennsylvania Class of 2024 rankings and review six players who used the 2022-23 high school season as well as the spring grassroots circuit to impress us and break into our ranking for the first time.
Below is a review of six southeastern Pennsylvania prospects who made their 2024 rankings debut in our latest update.
#42… Elijah Espinosa Elijah Espinosa 6'8" | PF Red Lands | 2024 State PA – 6’8″ / Red Lands / York Ballers / Power Forward: Espinosa missed the early portion of the 2022-23 season with a leg injury, so it was not until January that we got a good look at him. Once Espinosa was running the court, we were incredibly impressed. He is a super athletic prospect who does his scoring damage in the paint. Espinosa can elevate quickly in traffic for an alley-oop or for a put-back slam. At the defensive end, Espinosa is a dominant rebounder and intimidating rim protector.
#46… Lucas Orchard Lucas Orchard 6'4" | SG Perkiomen | 2024 State PA – 6’4″ / Perkiomen School / Prim3 Tim3 / Wing: Orchard is new to the 2024 rankings, but his name should not be new to our readers. After a successful career at Devon Prep that included winning the 2021-22 3A state title, this Swiss Army knife wing is now at Perkiomen School for a post graduate season. Orchard (13 ppg.; 5 rpg.; 3 apg.; 2 spg.). is extraordinary transition player. In the half, he scores at all three levels and can serve as a secondary ball handler. During his senior campaign, he posted a season high 27 points vs. Rutgers Prep (NJ). Orchard holds an offer from Monmouth.
#81… Dior Kennedy Dior Kennedy 6'2" | CG Coatesville | 2024 State PA – 6’2” / Coatesville / PA Coalition / Combo Guard: This outstanding two-way guard made an impression on us this winter when he pushed Coatesville to the 6A state quarterfinals. During the 2022-23 season Kennedy (13 ppg.; 4 apg., 3 spg.) showed he could score from anywhere on the court and exceled at turning his smothering defense into easy buckets. On the Spring circuit, this quick lefty used his transition scoring / distributing skills to guide PA Coalition to the Hoop Group Spring Jam Fest title. Kennedy holds an offer from NJIT.
#95… Tariq Jennings Tariq Jennings 6'6" | SF West Catholic | 2024 State PA – 6’6″ / West Catholic / Phill Pride Select / Small Forward: In 2022-23 Jennings was an athletic role player for West Catholic’s 3A state championship team. So, it was not until the spring grassroots circuit that his talented offensive skills were unleashed. Jennings is a surprisingly quick and crafty ball handler which means he can create shot for himself and teammates. He can also splash threes as well as stop-n-pop jumpers. Of course, with his length, speed and hops Jennings is a beast in transition.
#156… Zach Campbell Zach Campbell 6'3" | SG Dobbins Tech | 2024 State PA – 6’3″ / Dobbins Tech / BW Elite / Shooting Guard: Last winter Campbell (10 ppg. & 8 rpg.) was one of the leaders of the basketball resurgence at Dobbins. Campbell’s downhill, attack the rim style helped push Dobbins to 25 wins, the 2023 PPL semifinals (loss to Imhotep) as well as the 5A state tournament. Campbell is athletic, fast, and extremely versatile. He can score from anywhere on the floor and defend 1 through 4. In March, the stat sheet stuffing Campbell posted a ridiculous 18 points and 17 rebounds double-double against MCS.
#208…Kabrien Goss – 5’8” / Junior / Roman Catholic / Jersey Force / Combo Guard: Goss is new to our updated 2024 rankings after recently transferring from Trenton HS (NJ) to Roman. In 2022-23 Goss posted 15.6 points per game and drained 60 triples. He is a speedy guard with tight handles and a watery jumper. Last season Goss recorded a season high 32 points (6 threes) vs. Allentown (NJ). On defense, Goss has quick hands, excellent lateral movement and anticipates well, so he causes a slew of turnovers.
