He’s a mountain on the low block that demands a swarm of defenders. Monroe Area couldn’t match up and had to send triple teams to dig down at the big man. Ragland has soft hands and quality footwork. Getting lighter on his feet will help him elevate to finish more efficiently. Whenever Ragland was fouled, which was a lot, he showcased a pretty touch from the foul line knocking down free throw after free throw. Ragland can also step outside to hit the mid-range jumper. He is an interesting D-I target.
Dubem was a new face for me. He right away caught my attention with his explosive leaping ability. He’s quick to rebounds and can finish with slam dunks. The lefty has nice foot work on the block and showed the ability to score from 15-feet. He’s an energy provider that can mix it up with bigger 7A frontlines.
Noah Brown
Noah Brown
Noah knew how to be effective for MLK. He did a good job presenting himself on the block and dunker spot. Brown was able to catch and finish, most times not needing a dribble. I liked how he banged on the glass and displayed a hook shot in traffic.
Now a four-star football recruit, the key to Portal finally reaching their ceiling as a state title contender relies on Jackson sticking to the hardwood for his final season. Seeing him at UGA was a sigh of relief. Amir is a splashy player and has been a walking double-double since his freshman year. Even with his football recruitment on fire, Jackson still has skill with the roundball. He scored on a drive, emphatically swatted a shot and finished an And-1 dunk. Amir is a man-child. Though basketball is no longer his future at the next level, he still shows tantalizing flashes of greatness.
