Continue ReadingFresh off being named Class 5A Best Shooter as a junior, the three-point maestro got back to work on Friday, draining a pair of deep threes en route to 13 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 3 steals in a 58-49 win over McEachern. D-I schools have started to take notice of the elite sniper. His range and quick trigger are translatable weapons at the next level.
Dockrey brings a wildcard aspect to Union County’s backcourt, providing them with athleticism and fearlessness on defense. Cade likes to slash to the rim, keeping pressure on the defense by drawing fouls. His toughness comes over from the football field where he serves as a quarterback and cornerback. As he does on the gridiron, Dockrey is able to quickly diagnose plays on defense and blow them up with his ball skills. As a freshman, Cade was relied upon multiple times to defend the other team’s best player. In a 61-41 win over East Laurens, Dockrey tallied 15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Bradwell Institute went undefeated on Day 1, using an aggressive full court press to stymy opponents. Tahshaun Frasier Tahshaun Frasier 5’10” | PG Bradwell Institute | 2024 State GA was the Tigers’ go-to guy on the perimeter, showcasing his ability to get downhill and provide an overall jolt on both ends of the floor. He posted 15 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 2 steals and 1 block in a dominant win over Treutlen, 38-18.
Not only a game-breaking cornerback, the ballhawk brought his do-everything skill set to the hardwood in Mill Creek’s 61-50 win over Madison County to open camp. It felt like a football game as the Hawks jumped out to a ridiculous 31-0 lead, pitching a shutout just like their state title winning football team did three times over the course of their championship run. Greco finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. What stood out most was Trajen’s bounce. He had two tip-ins and a breakaway slam. Clearly his nose to the ball carries over from the football field where he holds multiple Power 5 offers.
Christian Curl Christian Curl 5’11” | PG McEachern | 2025 State GA has had a very nice summer. I would dare say that he has more assists than points this offseason and there is nothing wrong with that. Curl has grown on me thanks to his pass-first style of play. He plays with great pace, pushing the ball up the court quickly. He is able to drive and kick to shooters and delivers on the money assists to streaking teammates all while still providing harassing on-ball defense.
Toby has cat-like reflexes, a fast-twitch athlete that darts around the floor changing directions elusively. His shifty nature allows him to wriggle into the teeth of the defense and hit pull-up jumpers. Ojukwu is often efficient with his shots and doesn’t try to over do it. He does a good job of getting others involved and takes pride in his perimeter defense. He filled the stat sheet against Lanier, recording 8 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals.
