Hunter is the best PG in 6A right now and he is so skilled at his position that he just gives teams troubles. He does have some height and is able to shoot over defenders and he can get to his spots and do work. He has great footworka nd his speed has increased every year. Although his footwork and speed have improved he doesn’t really get sped up a lot. hunter is able to keep his composure through pressure as he works hard to make the right reads and plays. With his size he is able to move over off theball when there is a smaller guard in the game at the high school level and he is tough out on the wing as he can catch and shoot as well as attack the rim. He will be a tough cover and a tough player to stop over at Fremont.
Mekhi has the ability to really make an impact once again next year as he had an outstanding junior year. Mekhi has the strength to bully his way to the rim, but also the agility to avoid the help defenders. he finishes through contact and has a soft touch around the rim as he can get it off the glass or use his floater game as well. He is shooting the ball well coming off of screens and getting to spots off of the seek dribble. He also can hurt you if you go under screens as well. This coming year we look for him to be consistent every game providing positive scoring outputs as well as creating for other with his creating and passing ability.
Hunter is a fierce competitor that is the most athletic PG in 6A as he can fly and he often times catches defenders off guard and they just need to watch film and pay attention to the scouting report. that is to not jump with him and if he doesn’t finish on you he will hit the free-throws as he can get through contact as well. His shooting is great as well and that is one thing that often separates him from other players is that ability to just knockdown shots from deep and from range. He defends well and jumps the passing lanes as he racks up steals on the defensive end.
Carlo is one of those I got next but I am here now players a she was playing some mature basketball last season as a freshman trying to run a team with some experience. This summer already you can see the pace on him has changed as he is able to switch gears and keep defenders off balance. He has always been a good shooter and he is only getting better. Look for him to be a consistent facilitator and scorer for the Mustangs next season.
Highlights
One of the bright new faces that had a major stock rising performance last season. This up coming season he will need to figure out how to pick up the scoring load as they will need him to score a lot more as there have been some wholes left from kids not being at CHHS anymore. He can work out of the pick n’ roll and he needs to get to the elbows where he can either work ooff of that nice shot or change the speed and freeze the defender to then get to the rim.
This kid is so steady that he is really playing at his own speed. you can tell the game has slowed down for him a lot the way he is able to read the floor and keep his eyes up the floor scanning for open players and advantages as his team runs up the floor on a fast break. In the half-court he has a lot of cutters and movement he has to read but he does a great job just being patient and letting plays develop. Off the ball he is a good shooter that will hurt you if you help too much with his shot or his footwork as he draws two and finds open players so often.
Highlights
Cooper is tough and he is a hard-nose two way player. He is going to battle anyone and he has no fear as he gets into defenders on the defensive end and on the offensive side of things he knows how to control the tempo. He can get his team into sets and there is also a lot of movement in his offense and he knows where everyone should be and he is a passer that can thread the needle.
