Today, we take a look at the “Mighty Mites” who are the little guys that are under 5’10”. They are small in stature, but they made a big impact for their respective teams.
Colby Kiedrowski (Drive5 Elite 2024): A 5’9″ 2024 point guard from Park Hill South who looks to get downhill on the dribble at every opportunity. He has a strong build and he’s not afraid to go on the attack in the lane against the taller players. He plays through contact well and he can finish well around the basket.
*******
Ty Price (Gateway Basketball Club UAA-2025): A 5’8″ 2025 guard who was one of the top scorers in the tournament while playing up at the 17U level. He was consistently scoring more than 20 points a game as he displayed excellent 3-point shooting and the ability to attack when he had to. In the game I watched him play, he had a 19-point second half to rally his team to a victory. He has very good shooting range and a quick release on his shot.
******
London Tolliver (Peoria Dream 2024): A 5’7″ 2024 point guard who has electric speed and quickness and he used both to excel at both ends of the court. He is a blur in the open court as he could go coast to coast for layups or drop off nifty passes to teammates on the break. He was capable of finishing at a variety of angles in the lane and he also knocked down open 3-pointers off the catch.
*******
Donovan Meads (J-Rock Ballers 2024): A 5’7″ 2025 point guard from Cardinal Ritter who has excellent quickness and who plays an aggressive style of play. He was always probing the defense and looking for driving lanes to the basket. If he couldn’t get all the way to the rim, he can stop and pop from 15 feet to hit the mid-range jumper. He is also a very good on-ball defender who moves his feet and applies tremendous pressure on opposing ball handlers.
*******
Trey Welter (Sky Ice Elite 2024): A 5’8″ 2024 point guard who has an excellent feel for the game as well as a lot of court savvy. His head is always up and looking for open teammates while he handles the pressure. In addition to his nice court vision, he is an excellent 3-point shooter with his high-arching jumper. He can also get to the middle area to knock down jumpers off the bounce.
*****
Zion Simmons (Marcus Denmon Select 2024): A 5’7″ 2025 point guard from Lincoln Prep who was quite a pest on the defensive end with his quickness and on-ball defensive pressure. He also had fast hands to pick pockets and also strip opposing post players when he would dig inside on a double team. He was very effective at the penetrate and kick out game to open teammates for 3-point shooting opportunities.
*******
Luke Roberts (Arsenal Hoops 2026-Harris): A 5’8″ 2026 guard from St. Dominic who had a very impressive weekend shooting the basketball. In the game I watched him play, he had a nice 10-point rift in a two to three minute stretch when he knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and also added a couple of high-arching runners off the glass while on the move. He handles the ball well and he also does a good job moving without the ball to get himself open.
******
Myles Jelks (Arsenal Hoops 2026-Jelks): A 5’8″ 2027 point guard who was playing a year up at the 15U level and doing a nice job. He’s small, but he’s quick with a lot of poise and a high basketball IQ. He kept things organized on the court well and he could distribute the basketball very effectively. He is also a nice offensive player with the ability to create off the dribble. He has 3-point shooting range and he can hit the pull up jumper on the move.
