The teams in the spacious Champion Center all set out to attain bragging rights for the year. Each game had highlight worthy plays, and players looking to prove their team was worthy of a Championship Title. Although there can only be one champion, there was no shortage of intensity throughout the entire weekend in each division. This huge event had all of the best talent in the state of Minnesota. Below, I highlighted the “Impact Guards” that I was able to watch at the “Summer Slam”.
Wade Raines jr | Team Robinson
Rains proved to be an offensive threat for Team Robinson. Scoring the ball on all three levels of the floor as well as finding cutting and flaring teammates. He was reliable on and off the ball, his team benefitted from his leadership and foresight. His balanced attack of scoring and facilitating made for an outstanding weekend for Raines.
Jackson Rindt | All Wisconsin
Rindt spaced the floor tremendously for All Wisconsin, his ability to knock down shots off the catch almost matched his shot selection. The quick witted guard knew when to let it fly and when to create for others. His effort and energy helped All Wisconsin compete at a high level. When he was able to catch fire, his team seemed to click and play much better.
Tolan Johnson | Racine Truth
Johnson’s grit and energy helped his team to championship honors at Summer Slam. The combo guard did the majority of his damage as a secondary playmaker, having his hand in a multitude of impactful plays for Racine Truth. The fiery guard’s play on the defensive end was catalyst to his team’s success, he took on the challenge of pressuring his opponents lead guard and scoring leader all weekend.
Christopher Zhao | Wisconsin Blizzard
Zhao ran the show with the best of them for the Wisconsin Blizzard, his rhythm and understanding of angles allowed him to get to his spots with ease. He was reliable on and off the ball, but at his best in the pick and roll. The three level scorer has a next level ready mid range pull up. Zhao had a major impact for his team all weekend long.
