They are loaded with D1/D2 talent across the board, and should be a must watch for college coaches in July. The squad, coached by Patrick Freeman, is well balanced and loaded with weapons offensively. I was able to stop by Thursday night and check out a practice.
It is hard to find a better shooter in the state than Alex Wilcoxson Alex Wilcoxson 5’11” | SG Gretna | 2024 State NE . However, the 6′ guard from Gretna is more than just a shooter. There are very few players who play as hard as Wilcoxson does on both ends of the floor; his motor is relentless. He is not afraid of the moment, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. Nevertheless, Wilcoxson is known for his ability to knockdown shots when called upon. He can light it up from anywhere on the floor and can catch fire at any moment.
Carter Mick Carter Mick 6’2″ | SG Lincoln East | 2024 State NE is a treat to watch. There are very few guards in the state who play with the confidence and swagger Mick plays with. After a standout Junior year at Lincoln East, the 6’3 lefty found himself with a lot of buzz going into AAU season. He is a high level scorer who can light it up from the outside and create for himself off the bounce. Mick missed a lot of time this Spring because he was busy leading his Lincoln East baseball squad to a state championship. However, he is back with Nebraska Supreme and ready to showcase his skills this summer.
Eldon Turner Eldon Turner 5’10” | PG Bellevue West | 2024 State NE is a smooth and steady point guard who is ready to breakout. After playing with some higher level guys at Bellevue West this past year (one of the top high school programs in the country), he was limited in what he was able to showcase. Just because his numbers may not show it, Turner has serious game. He is a true point guard who does a great job at setting up his teammates for easy buckets. Turner plays with pace getting downhill, and can knock it down from the outside as well. He is in a great position to turn draw some attention this Summer.
One of the more interesting prospects on the roster is Kuet Gatwech Kuet Gatwech 6’2″ | CG Lincoln North Star | 2024 State NE . At 6’4, Gatwech is a long and athletic guard who has a lot of potential to be a serious talent. He poses a real threat in transition, and is not afraid to throw it down once he gets to the rim. He is also a streaky scorer, with a much improving outside shot and nice mid range game. Defensively, Gatwech’s length causes a lot of problems, and his leaping ability allows him to chase down offensive players and block their shot off the glass.
Bhan Buom Bhan Buom 6’5″ | SF Wasatch Academy | 2024 NE ‘s stock continues to rise. Coaches can not teach length and athleticism: Buom has both. He is all of 6’8 and has very long arms. He is also one of the best athletes in his class with a freaky ability to fly through the air and finish above the rim. Buom poses as a threat in the pick and roll because of his athleticism, but also in the pick and pop because he can knock down the three ball. He is more than just his potential; he is skilled and ready to contribute in a big way this summer.
