Teams will conduce workouts, play in local leagues, and travel for shootouts throughout this month. June also brings major events like the Indiana All-Star series, the IBCA Top 100 workout, and the annual Charlie Hughes Showcase. As always, Prep Hoops Indiana will have boots on the ground covering it all. However, before we get started, let’s take a look at some of the teams that you’ll want to make a point of watching this month. Here are five of the top Class 3A and Class 4A teams to watch going into the 2023-2024 season.
Brownsburg
The Bulldogs lose their second leading scorer in Elhadj Diallo who is headed to play at Marian, but the rest of their production will be back for 2023-2024. Leading the way will be 6’7″ Purdue commit Kanon Catchings Kanon Catchings 6'8" | PF Overtime Elite (GA) | 2024 #31 Nation GA who was named an Indiana Junior All-Star after averaging 17.5 points per game. The super talented wing is working out for the Team USA U19 team this summer as well. Rising senior Grant Porath is another double-figure scoring returning for Brownsburg. This will likely be a preseason Top 5 team in Class 4A.
Crispus Attucks
I’ll get my first look at one of the preseason favorites in Class 4A on Friday at the University of Indianapolis Shootout. They also will go to Ohio, Toledo, and Purdue while playing in the Tuesday night PAC League and the Charlie Hughes Showcase. The Tigers broke through last season upsetting Cathedral to win the Indianapolis City Championship and finished with an 18-8 record. 6’8″ rising junior forward Dezmon Brisoce is the top prospect to watch for Attucks, but rising senior guard Ron Rutland, rising junior point guard Chris Hurt Chris Hurt 5'11" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2025 State IN , and rising senior point guard Mason Lewis Mason Lewis 5'9" | PG Crispus Attucks | 2024 State IN , a transfer from North Central, are all excellent college prospects in their own right.
Fishers
The Tigers are going to be loaded for the 2023-2024 season. 5-star Class of 2025 point guard Jalen Haralson Jalen Haralson 6'7" | PG La Lumiere | 2025 #8 Nation IN is a year older and will once again be one of the best players in the state. He averaged 23.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game as a sophomore. Meanwhile, Huntington commit Taden Metzger will provide elite shooting ability on the perimeter and versatile forward Keenan Garner will provide some size and skill around the basket. Look for big seasons out of guys like JonAnthony Hall JonAnthony Hall 6'1" | PG Fishers | 2025 State IN , Parker Perdue Parker Perdue 6'3" | SF Fishers | 2024 State IN , Millen McCartney Millen McCartney 6'1" | PG Fishers | 2025 State IN , and incoming freshman Cooper Zachary.
Guerin Catholic
Fresh off of a trip to Gainbridge Fieldhouse where they finished runner-up in the Class 3A state title game, the Golden Eagles return an impressive core for the 2023-2024 season. Leading scorer Robert Sorensen Robert Sorensen 6'0" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN will be back for his rising senior season after averaging 14.4 points per game for Guerin. Rising senior wing Dylan Morans is having a great spring for Kyle Guy Elite and is poised for a breakout season. Additionally, rising junior Bryson Cardinal is a name to remember alongside rising senior guard Jack Cherry Jack Cherry 6'1" | PG Guerin Catholic | 2024 State IN .
Scottsburg
On paper, it’ll be tough to put many, if any teams ahead of Scottsburg at the Class 3A level going into the season. The Warriors went 22-6 last year while advancing to the Semi-State championship game before falling to Guerin Catholic. They return the core of their team including rising senior guards Kody Clancy Kody Clancy 6'4" | PG Scottsburg | 2024 State IN and Jack Miller Jack Miller 6'5" | SG Scottsburg | 2024 State IN alongside rising senior forward Wyatt Zellers. That three-headed monster will give them a chance to win every time they step on the court. This summer, Scottsburg will head south for a trip to Alabama-Huntsville, while also playing at Hanover, the KABC Titan Shootout in Shelbyville, Kentucky, and the Charlie Hughes Showcase.
