We had the chance to check out the action and get a closer look at how a number of players have been progressing with their games this club season. Here’s a look at some of the top performers from the Class of 2024 (Part 1 of 2):
Pearson Carmichael Pearson Carmichael 6'6" | SF Summit | 2024 State #270 Nation OR , BOSS Basketball (2024 Summit) – Would have been our pick as the top player at the event. Pretty much did whatever he wanted offensively. Perimeter shot wasn’t deadeye but deadly enough and was unstoppable getting to the hoop, finishing at the rim or around the hoop with either hand. Played some at the point and set up teammates effectively.
Eddie Freauff Eddie Freauff 6'4" | SF Crook County | 2024 State OR , BOSS Basketball (2024 Crook County) – Built like Adonises, used his physical strength and athleticism to dominate in the paint. Wasn’t just about brute strength or leaping ability as he showed a fairly soft touch around the hoop and out to the middle of the key. Ran the floor well and was rewarded with easy buckets in transition. Grabbed boards both inside and outside his area.
Jackson Weiland Jackson Weiland 6'0" | PG South Medford | 2024 State OR , Oregon Prospects (2024 South Medford) – Showed great toughness and floor leadership at the point. Shot well from long range but has developed a strong pull-up jumper and goes right at it against and over bigger players. Set the table for easy scores for teammates and played gritty on-ball defense.
Isaiah Crane, Dynasty (2024 TBA) – Had a scoring mentality at lead guard, getting into the lane and the rim on a variety of dribble-drive moves. Confidently shot the perimter jumper when leftopen. Was active on the offensive glass and generated a number of second-chance opportunities. Active in the passing lanes on defense as always. Looking to pursue a year in prep school for 2023-24.
Aengus Sutherland Aengus Sutherland 6'5" | SF Lake Oswego | 2024 State OR , Oregon Prospects (2024 Lake Oswego) – Converted a number of hard drives to the basket, finishing around the hoop in athletic ways. Was confident handling the basketball both on focused penetration and in the open floor. Hit enough open jumpers to keep the defense honest and was active on the defensive end.
Cole Holum Cole Holum 6'9" | PF Lakeridge | 2024 State OR , Oregon Prospects (2024 Lakeridge) – Continues to show confidence with his offensive game. Posted up strong for a couple of buckets and also faced and knocked down some jumpers out past the three-point line. Ran the floor well and threw down a couple of two-handed dunks.
Ian Prictor Ian Prictor 6'8" | PF Mountain View | 2024 State OR , Oregon Prospects (2024 Mountain View) – Split time with Holum in the paint, held his own on the boards and on the defensive end. Was able to grab defensive boards or alter shots on defense and quickly get down the floor on offense. Shot and converted high percentage chances.
Ty Dahlin Ty Dahlin 6'3" | SG South Medford | 2024 State OR , MBA Hoops (2024 Crater) – Used his length to make a difference on both ends of the floor. Smooth shot from the perimeter but wasn’t afraid to take it inside against bigger players and draw contact. Showed the abiliy to guard multiple positions.
