Drew Bessette Drew Bessette 6'7" | PF Rice Memorial | 2024 State New E , 6’7 W/F – Rens United Basketball Club
One of VT’s most talented, Drew brings the modern swingman game into full effect. Bessette’s perimeter movement and utilization of screens frees him up for plenty of crispy jumpers. Moreover, he’s super solid in the pnr and is a threat inside and out. Defensively, Drew defends 3s and 4s with nice length and anticipation. He received an offer from D2 St. Michaels last year, so I’m interested to see what this summer brings.
Tyler Bergmans Tyler Bergmans 6'2" | SG South Burlington | 2024 State New E , 6’2 CG – Green Mountain Select
A true combo-guard, Tyler brings a variety of skills to the table. Bergmans is a competent orchestrator who can organize an offense. Yet he’s also highly effective off-ball, attacking space and using screens to find open shots or get downhill. Tyler is hyper-efficient scoring around the rim, and he has the strength to battle for second chance buckets. Defensively he covers multiple positions and provides excellent wing rebounding. So tough.
Kyle Eaton Kyle Eaton 5'9" | PG Champlain Valley Union | 2024 New E , 5’8 PG – Blueprint Basketball
One of the quickest guards in the 802, Eaton can get to his spot whenever he likes. Kyle’s quickness and tight handle allow him to pick defenses apart, and he’s able to get into his shot in a flash. Moreover, he sees the court well and balances his strong scoring with facilitation. An absolute pest on D, Kyle exhausts ballhandlers with his extensive ball pressure and impressive foot speed. Take note.
Harry Geng Harry Geng 6'1" | PG St Johnsbury Academy | 2024 State New E , 6’2 CG – St. Johnsbury Academy
A southpaw with nice size, Harry is a combo-guard who serves his team in a number of ways. Geng can orchestrate, create offense for others, and he heats up in a hurry. And on the defensive end, Harry holds it down. He defends with perimeter with his length and agility, plus, he hits the glass to help out on the boards. Geng’s mentality and hardnosed approach shine through.
Tucker Tharpe Tucker Tharpe 6'6" | PF Champlain Valley | 2024 State New E , 6’6 W/F – Blueprint Basketball
Tucker is that modern swingman who does a number of things. Tharpe’s inside/out defense, rim protection, and rebounding are quickly obvious. Yet he can handle the ball in transition and make plays in the open court or on the perimeter. Offensively, he’s most effective inside the 3-point line with his post presence as a scorer, dimer, and screener. Tucker’s hustle and smarts are evident.
Will Hughes, 5’11 PG – Northeast Celtics
A rugged PG, Hughes is that coach on the floor. Will organizes the offense and sets the tone with his tough dribble drives and heady passing. His finishing within 15-feet is highly efficient, and he has the court awareness to look defenders off and make feeds for easy buckets. Of course, his toughness transfers over to the defensive end too. Hughes leads with a never quit attitude and sincere toughness.
Colby Morehouse, 6’3 G/W – Blueprint Basketball
Colby’s evolving from a pure shooter to a well-rounded gamer. His shooting off the catch is buttery, and he can get hot in a hurry. Yet he’s adding strength to his slashing, and I’ve seen an improvement in his dishes off the dribble drive and on the wing. Additionally, he covers the perimeter with extensive length and quick feet. I’m excited to see more of Colby.
Joe Buxton, 6’4 W – Green Mountain Select
Here we have another dynamic swingman who provides a multitude of services. Joe’s inside/out defense makes him quite versatile as a rebounder, rim protector, and a perimeter defender. Then on the offensive end, Joe stretches the floor with his 3-point shooting and over-the-top passing. Buxton makes the hustle plays and his decision making with the rock is quick and efficient.
