After the Indiana Junior All-Star Girls dominated in a 102-75 win, the Indiana Junior All-Star boys backed it up with a 105-100 win in the nightcap. However, it wasn’t always easy sledding for the Junior Boys.
Indiana Mr. Basketball Markus Burton (Penn H.S.), a Notre Dame signee, and Purdue bound Myles J. Colvin (Heritage Christian) got off to hot starts as the Seniors jumped out to a 32-18 advantage at the 8:00 media timeout. That would prove to be their largest lead of the game as the Juniors rattled off a 27-15 run to cut the halftime deficit to two points at 45-43.
It was point guard Micah Davis Micah Davis 6'0" | PG Franklin | 2024 State #184 Nation IN (Franklin H.S.) who was keeping the Juniors in the game early on and K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN (Ben Davis H.S.) hit a couple of outside shots to spark the run to end the first half. Those two would stay hot in the second half as the Juniors eventual pulled in front and stayed in front of their Senior counterparts.
The game changed hands several times in the final minutes as there would be a total of 13 lead changes and seven ties, but the Indiana Junior All-Stars ultimately came away with a 105-100 victory.
Micah Davis Micah Davis 6'0" | PG Franklin | 2024 State #184 Nation IN led all scorers in the game with 26 points to go with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The explosive 6’0” floor general continues to put together an impressive, stock-rising spring. Meanwhile, Purdue commit Jack Benter Jack Benter 6'4" | SG Brownstown Central | 2024 State #121 Nation IN (Brownstown Central H.S.) got hot in the second half scoring 20 of his 24 points to lead his team to victory. 5-star big man Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN (Kokomo H.S.), just 24 hours removed from winning MVP honors in Las Vegas at the prestigious Pangos All-American Camp, showed up and was his typical, dominant self. Bidunga finished with 18 pionts, 21 rebounds, and 6 blocked shots. K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN rounded out the scorers in double-figures with 19 points.
For the Indiana All-Stars, Mr. Basketball Markus Burton scored 23 points to lead the way. Myles Colvin added 18 points and Ball State signee Zane Doughty (Ben Davis H.S.) finished with 13 points and 6 rebounds. Notre Dame bound Logan Imes had a solid game as well scoring 11 points to go with 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Indiana All-Stars will head to Owensboro, Kentucky on Friday night to face the Kentucky All-Stars. Then, they will return to the Hoosier state on Saturday for the second game of the annual series at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Michigan State signee Xavier Booker (Cathedral H.S.) and Joey Hart (Linton-Stockton H.S.) are both expected to still be out for the Indiana All-Stars for the weekend series against Kentucky. However, Belmont bound Sam Orme (Carmel H.S.) will rejoin his teammates after attending college registration.
