As far as True PG’s come, Brayden Lytes Brayden Lytes 5’9″ | PG Greer | 2024 State SC was up there with the best from Day 1 of the Wofford Team Camp. Brayden is the vocal leader of the Greer team, always reminding his teammates the game situation and being the first to pick them up after a mistake. He is a great passer, both in Half-Court Offense and in Transition with Outlet Passes. Also, the strength of Brayden’s lower half makes it hard for bigger defenders to back him down, which is a great asset and allows Greer to switch more often.
During the summer, Zayn transferred to Greer from JL Mann High School. His ability to be a lockdown defender is going to be extremely important to the Yellow Jackets this season. He is very much a quick-twitch athlete, moving his feet well and locating screens in order to get around them and stay with his man. Both times I’ve seen Valentine in a Yellow Jacket Practice Jersey, he’s been thrown on the other teams top scorer and that is something we will likely see more of during the Winter.
Edwards was impressive at the Wofford Camp as well, doing a little bit of everything on the offensive end and finishing with 8 points against Greer. Following a breakout Sophomore Year in which he was Top 10 in the State in Assists with 109, he had an impressive summer with Next Level Elite, often playing up with the 2024s with Landrum teammate Franklin Davis Franklin Davis 6’3″ | SG Landrum | 2024 State SC . That chemistry will be key to Cardinals this season, who are consistently in the mix in 2A.
I was really impressed by Rising Sophomore Guard Jyssiah Foster Jyssiah Foster 5’9″ | PG Boiling Springs | 2026 State SC at the Wofford Team Camp this week. He showed an ability to do a lot of things on the court for the Bulldogs. He scored from inside and out, rebounded the ball, facilitated for teammates, and even drew a charge. An all-around performance for Foster, and one that we will likely see more of throughout the upcoming High School Season.
Sprouse had a slow start Thursday, but bounced back well with a great second half. He finished with 15 Points and 3 Steals vs Wando. Sprouse is a name that many won’t think of when it comes to scorers in the 2024 class, but he can get points in bunches with the best of them. He’s put on muscle over the summer to help fill out his 6’3″ frame, allowing him to be a more versatile scorer.
