Tucker Tharpe Tucker Tharpe 6'6" | PF Champlain Valley | 2024 State NLG , 6’6 F – VT Hawks / Blueprint Basketball
Tharpe put in some good work over the weekend. He was up to his typical shenanigans, defending 2-4 inside/out with footwork and rim protection + cleaning the glass to start the break either himself or with an outlet to run lanes. Offensively he showed nice versatility by occupying various post positions and the wing, making crisp decisions to break defenses down. Much of his offensive production came around the paint, either in post-ups or second chance buckets. Very solid weekend from a guy who does the dirty work and a bit more.
Will Hughes, 5’11 G – Northeast Celtics
A true point guard, Will displayed solid playmaking skills and hardnosed defense. Hughes punctured the paint often and finished plays in a multitude of ways. Will finished well around the paint with savvy layups and floaters/pull-ups in the short-range. Plus, his adept passing hit posts and wings with timely passes for clean looks. And on the defensive end, Will held it down. He pressured guards naturally, and his ability to scrap for loose balls, dig in against posts, and hit the glass makes him a dynamic PG who produces in a number of ways.
Colby Morehouse, 6’3 G/W – VT Hawks / Blueprint Basketball
I saw a side of Colby I had yet to see. He was in a more facilitative role, bringing the ball down and getting the offense rolling. Morehouse showed solid decision making in this role, making the simple play on-ball and moving intuitively off it. Of course, he showed his sharpshooting too. Colby’s a knockdown shooter, especially off the catch. And defensively, he showed nice versatility on the wing. He guards wings with nice agility and the length to disrupt shots, dig in on posts, and rebound the rock. Colby is a versatile wing who’s growing.
Ryan Morrison, 6’6 F – Hardwick Mustangs
I hadn’t seen much of Ryan before, but his work ethic is impossible to miss. Morrison beat more skilled matchups with sheer willpower, outworking them on the glass on both ends, finishing second chance points, and battling inside for position to keep opponents ineffective. Moreover, he’s a solid screener and roller in the pnr, and he constantly uplifts his teammates with competitive energy. Ryan puts in work and it pays.
Sam Parris, 5’10 G – VT Wolves
With Sam, it’s a ton of grit and athleticism. Parris’ agility is exceptional, and he works opponents down with in-your-face ball pressure. In doing so, he takes offenses out of rhythm and forces turnovers for transition opportunities. Plus, he’s the type to dive on the floor and track down 50/50s with physicality. On the offensive end, Sam is quick and decisive. Parris attacks defenders with quickness to the cup and he finished well around the rim. And his off-ball movement is consistently exposing defensive gaps. Sam is smart and athletic.
