Lucas Occhionero, 5’11 G – West Island Lakers (Montreal, CA) Class of 2025
A plug-and-play type combo-guard, Lucas showed his all-around game through the weekend. Occhionero’s ability to play on the ball and off was quickly evident. He pushed the break nicely and made smart decisions for transition buckets both as a scorer and passer. In the halfcourt he slashed effectively and made passes ahead of the defensive rotation for cutters + spot-up shooters. Plus, he showed nice relocation himself and knocked down open jumpers. Defensively, Lucas is scrappy and unrelenting. Occhionero locks in on guards, rotates crisply, and has nice awareness as a helper. Nice weekend from Occhionero.
Thomas McHugh, 6’0 G – West Island Lakers (Montreal, CA) Class of 2025
Thomas quickly cemented himself as a savvy two-level scorer. McHugh consistently knocked down jumpers off of his smart relocation, and when the close out came, he showed shot fakes and slashed for athletic finishes + timely kick outs. Plus, his speed in transition got him numerous lays ahead of the pack. On the defensive end, Thomas showed a ton of grit. His agility in the press and halfcourt was quite disruptive, and his hustle to get back in the play never wavered. Additionally, Thomas routinely took responsibility for any mistakes and displayed impressive coachability. Great demeanor from McHugh.
Haidin Chilafoux, 6’0 G – Falcons Class of 2025
A savvy two-level scorer in his own right, Chilafoux showed nice change of pace + change of direction to get to his spots. His 3 off the bounce and the catch was falling. Once the defense stepped up, he gave a hesitation, read the coverage, and attacked it. Haidin finished around the rim and kicked out when help came. Moreover, he orchestrated the offense quite well and kept everyone involved. Defensively, Chilafoux defended the wing nicely, offered timely help, and got in passing lanes to gunk up the offense. I like Haidin’s ability to make plays on both sides of the ball.
Avery Rogers, 6’3 W/F – VT Hawks Class of 2025
Highly versatile, Rogers demonstrated his adaptability often. Avery showed he can occupy the post as a finisher + passer against the zone, and then he stepped out and knocked down the 3 with ease. His off-ball movement got him into scoring positions, and with his strong frame, he set tough screens to create space. Then defensively, Avery is dynamic. He covers multiple positions with his strength and athleticism, and he crashed the boards consistently. Rogers is coming along as a dynamic two-way player.
Hayden Boivin, 6’4 W/F – Falcons Class of 2025
I’ve been impressed with Boivin’s flexibility. Hayden took smaller guys into the post and finished around the rim, dominating the paint with his size and toughness. Then he’d balance that by stepping out and drilling 3 after 3, especially in the championship round where he led a huge comeback. And on the defensive end, he’s just as versatile. Boivin defends inside and out with his footwork + anticipation, plus he cleaned the glass at a high rate. Hayden’s game is becoming ever more dynamic, perfect for the modern wing.
