1. Which prospect were you ready to go to bat for and felt they deserved a healthy bump in the updated rankings?
Giacubeno: Marcus Jackson Marcus Jackson 6'8" | C John Marshall | 2025 State #161 Nation VA is a prospect that was one my radar coming into this high school season. I had a chance to catch him on a couple of different occasions and the potential and tools were evident, but the strides that the 6’8 lefty has made since the AAU season has started is flabbergasting. His timing, athleticism and elite ability around the rim at both ends have scouts and college coaches from around the country locked in. He isn’t anywhere close to a finished product, but I’m a believer that in a calendar year, we’ll be viewing Jackson as a forward that high major programs are pushing to commit early to their program.
Ayalew: Adrien Stevens Adrien Stevens 6'4" | SG Bullis | 2025 State #113 Nation MD . He’s been a consistent producer that shows progress all across the board every time I see him.
2. Who is a prospect that you think will take advantage of the summer stage to continue their ascent?
Giacubeno: Omari Witherspoon Omari Witherspoon 6'4" | CG St. John's | 2025 State MD has set an early tone this spring with his play on the UA Circuit with a very talented DC Premier squad. Not only has he controlled the pace of games as a lead guard, but he’s also sprinkled in showcasing his ability to score in traffic. The 6’4 combo guard can be a presence on or off the ball and continues to become more productive with every event that passes.
Ayalew: Brandon Holmes Brandon Holmes 6'9" | C Mount St. Joseph | 2025 State MD . I think over the summer he will have some moments with Mount St. Joe that make people say “Where did this kid come from?” He’s got the tools to be a forceful paint presence.
3. Give a name or two that college coaches should be making time to see this summer who may be under the radar at this point?
Giacubeno: Rob Fields Rob Fields 6'7" | PF McDonogh | 2025 State MD from McDonogh and Team Final Red 16U is a name that is starred on my radar this summer. I’ll be watching the 6’7 forward closely throughout the month of June as he has used this spring to put forth consistent outings. Despite flirting with a double-double each time he took the floor this winter, there aren’t as many programs who should be investing time into Fields. He’ll have an opportunity to change that narrative in the coming weeks.
Jayson Peterson Jayson Peterson 6'8" | C Bullis | 2025 State MD is a prospect who has shown different layers to his game. Admittedly, I hadn’t seen him a ton since last fall, but he’s clearly more confident when asked to do things from the perimeter in flashes. He has size at 6’8, a dependable motor and athleticism that is continuing to trend in the right direction. If he can carry over those flashes into DMV Live this June, I’d expect the offers to follow shortly after.
Ayalew: Francis Folefac Francis Folefac 6'6" | C Mt. Zion Prep Academy | 2025 State MD – Think Draymond Green in terms of versatility on defense. Probably about 6’5″, but has a wingspan over 7 feet. Plays extremely hard and is tough as nails.
Alex Touomou Alex Touomou 6'6" | PF Gonzaga | 2025 State #350 Nation MD – smooth 6’6″ wing that is a good athlete and shoots it. I think if he has some big games in front of the right people his stock could skyrocket.
