Jacoby comes in as the #1 ranked player in the 2025 class and had an absolutely fantastic playoff run to finish his sophomore campaign. He led his team to the championship game in class 7A, where his team came up short against the Hoover Bucs. It was Jacoby’s play that caused the jump in his class ranking. He is Mr. Do-It-All for his team, and he showed that even though he can go for huge numbers, he is willing to sit down and defend on D. He brings versatility, toughness, and consistency. He has really set the bar high, and the expectations heading forward will be massive.

There were a lot of expectations surrounding Bryce last season, and unfortunately, for many, he never lived up to the hype. He was inconsistent throughout, so he will need to be more of the player people expected him to be. He has all the physical tools and is a gifted scorer and playmaker who brings deep 3-point shooting, versatility, and length to the floor. It would be one thing if Bryce had not shown his potential in the past, but he has the potential to be a key piece to Central, not only getting back to the championship game but winning it.
Willie Townsend (5’10/G/’24)
Willie will be entering his senior season next year and will need to bring leadership and experience. He will be looked upon as a calming factor that keeps the team balanced. Coach Burkett knows he will get scoring, versatility, and competitiveness from Willie. Willie will need to be a scoring option that can step up and relieve some of the pressure off Jacoby during some stretches of the game.
Coaches Corner
I spoke with Coach Burkett and asked him about two players he is interested in seeing how they perform in June, and he mentioned Jonah Jones Jonah Jones 6'4" | SF Central-Phenix | 2025 State AL and Dez Williams, players he knows that have experience and should be ready to take the next step as pieces to the puzzle.
You can look for Coach Burkett’s squad to be aggressive at both ends of the floor. Defensively they will pride themselves on making everyone earn everything. Offensively look for a team with the freedom to let it fly from deep and athletes that can get to the cup off the bounce.
Don’t expect much to change with Central, as they want to continue from where they left off last season.
