Team Tyus 2028 Black was on another level at Prep Hoops Next Battle At The Lakes, securing the 13U Platinum Championship. They made things look easy and were dominant, going 6-0 over the weekend. They were dominant in nearly every facet of the game. They defended and then ran the court. They were able to pressure and play fast all game because of their depth and talent they brought off the bench. Not one player or a few players played a bunch of minutes like most teams. They were rotating their lineup often — because they could. Size, athleticism, and skill that overwhelmed their opponents. They will have multiple players make the All-Tournament teams.

The Prospects
#0 Darvon Nelson – 5’10 G/F (2028) – Apple Valley – One of my favorite prospects out of the 13U group, Nelson is a heck of an athlete and playmaker. Runs the floor hard and is always putting pressure on opposing team’s transition defense. Strong rebounder that comes away with the 50/50 balls. Just seems like he’s always around the ball and making some sort of positive play. In the team’s full court press/trap, Nelson plays on the ball and creates a ton of problems for the offense with his pressure and anticipation.

#2 Zak Loehlein – 5’9” SG (2028) – Prior Lake – A solid guard that has some decent height to him as a 5’9” shooting guard. Solid skills as a handler, shooter, and can make all the passes and some flashy ones as well. Sees the floor and anticipates the action. Cuts to the hoop and moves well without the ball. Doesn’t dominate the ball and swings it around.
#3 Judah Mitchell – 5’5” PG (2028) – Apple Valley – Judah is a talented and playmaking point guard. Effective off the ball screen, turning the corner and becoming an offensive threat. He can fade off-balance and knockdown mid-rangers. Has a swag and confidence in his abilities. A true baller that was one of the top 13U point guards.

#7 Daniel Zoa – 6’1” C (2028) – Legacy Christian – Zoa can play the role of a true post as well as a versatile big. A rim protector and big-time shot-blocker that was erasing shot attempts left and right — especially in the championship game. A strong scorer inside that has decent strength scoring inside, with the ability to score overtop the defense. Runs the floor really well for a big and can contribute in the transition game.
#11 Emmanuel Oyesanmi – 6’1” F (2028) – Tartan – A prospect with great length, agility, and athleticism. One of the top combinations of size and athleticism in the 13U group. A top-tier athletic profile for his age group. An elite prospect and elite in the transition game. A versatile defender that applies heavy pressure on the perimeter and will make the guard handle the ball. Ability to board and go with the ball as a ball-handler. Ability to rise up with his verticality and score over/through defenders. He did a great job getting into the lane and making dime passes for easy buckets. Got up and dunked it in transition versus The Valley.

#13 Jamir Davis – 5’8” SG/SF (2028) – Apple Valley – Jamir can get into the lane and become a problem. Can score with a floater or power over contact to finish. Goes at the defense and isn’t scared of contact or putting his body out there. Can create on his own and handle the ball from the point.
#21 Ira Thomas Jr. – 5’4” PG/SG – A small guard that is a shooter and three-point threat. Has a nice offensive game and a playmakers mentality. Quick defensive hands, turning steals into fast-break opportunities. Makes skilled and flashy dime passes. A true gamer that hit some big threes for his team. A feisty guard that gets his nose in their and will fight for loose balls.

#23 Ben Koch – 5’5” G (2028) – East Ridge – Smaller guard but has a skilled handle, floater game, and three-point ability. Can handle the ball. They will run him off of screens to free him up for a shot. Can run the wing quickly in a transition possession. Made a crucial layup doing so in the championship game.
#25 Koa Fuller – 6’1” PF (2028) – Stillwater – Hit some big threes against Young and Reckless in the championship game. On other teams he has a more prominent role. Plays his role well and doesn’t force things. Like everyone on the roster, he runs the floor. Will box out and rebound.
