However, Division I coaches won’t be back on the recruiting trail until the middle of June. Let’s take a look back at the two events I covered, the Grassroots Showcase and Midwest Jam Fest, as well as other events from around the country featuring Indiana prospects, and highlight eight “new names” from the weekend.

5Star 2024 has had a solid showing on 3SGB Circuit in the two live periods this spring and this 6’5″ forward has played a big role in that. Barth is a versatile scorer that can contribute both around the basket and facing up out to the perimeter. He rebounds his position effectively as well. Definitely a name to keep an eye on out of northern Indiana.
Gatlin has long been known here at Prep Hoops Indiana and is even pretty highly ranked due to his extremely high upside, but he probably is a bit of a new name to everyone else across the state. The versatile 6’6″ wing has burst onto the scene though this spring playing with Ty Harris Elite 2024 on the UA Rise Circuit. He can attack closeouts and finish at the rim, is capable as a catch-and-shoot threat, and is switchable on the defensive end of the floor. An under-the-radar name for college coaches to take a look at in the coming months.
A super quick guard with incredible length, Johnson has some physical gifts that jump off the floor at you right away. His length allows him to be disruptive on the defensive end while his explosiveness makes him excellent in transition and attacking the basket off of the dribble. After playing behind nine seniors at Southport, Johnson is making a name for himself this spring with Progeny 2025 and should really breakout going into his junior year.
Peters is an athletic, bouncy 6’6″ forward playing with INB Elite 2024. He stood out with his ability to run the floor, score it as the roll man off of ballscreen or handoff, and rebound his area on both ends. He plays with a good motor and has the physical tools to translate to the next level. Very impressive athlete for his size that should continue to turn some heads going into the month of May.
B.J. Sibanda
B.J. Sibanda
This talented guard that can get hot in a hurry from beyond the arc put up back-to-back huge games on Saturday at the Midwest Jam Fest in Indianapolis for INB Elite Black 2024. Sibanda averaged 28 points per game on the day.
This 6’5″ athletic wing for Grand Park Premier 2026 has really broken out this spring as one of the more impressive Class of 2026 prospects in the state. Smith has a super high upside as a versatile scorer that can defend multiple positions and moves around the floor extremely fluidly. After playing on the UAA Circuit in Session I, GPP came back to Indiana for the Midwest Jam Fest last weekend. Now, they will take their talents to Fort Wayne for the Bill Hensley Memorial Run ‘N Slam. Very, very intriguing long term prospect.
Ethan Zahn
Ethan Zahn
An under-the-radar elite shooter in the Class of 2025, Zahn is coming off of an excellent weekend at the April Classic for Summit City Elite Black 2025. The 5’11” guard averaged 14 points per game while shooting 52% from three-point range. He can shoot both off of the catch and dribble. Look for him at the Run ‘N Slam this weekend.
