I was able to watch every team hit the floor and ended up with a big list of standout players from the first full day of action down here in Portland, Oregon. Let’s jump right in and get to know some of the key names making moves on Saturday.
Dayne Cardoza Dayne Cardoza 6'0" | PG Ingraham | 2025 State WA | 6’0 | Ingraham/WA | BDH Elite | 2025
Played inspired defense at times and really started to get to the hoop late in the first half to help BDH lay the foundation for a big second half. Worked his man well back and forth in order to gain ground and get his defender off-balance in order to finish in the paint.
Kenyon Simmons Kenyon Simmons 6'3" | SG Timberline | 2025 State WA | 6’4 | Timberline/WA | BDH Elite | 2025
He’s on a roll right now and had another stellar game working around the paint and taking the ball to the hoop. When he gets going, you can tell defenders don’t want to get in his way with his athleticism and power on his takes. He had another monster jam today to finish way above the rim.
Carter Hansen Carter Hansen 5'8" | PG Auburn | 2025 State WA | 5’8 | Auburn/WA | BDH Elite | 2025
Never one to back down from a challenge, Hansen played tough defense on “Joe” from Players Only, and even when “Joe” hit tough shot after tough shot, Hansen continued to step up and make him work for his buckets. He hit a couple of shots from behind the arc and hustled all game.
Sebastian Arius Sebastian Arius 6'5" | CG Auburn Mountainview | 2025 State WA | 6’4 | Auburn Mountainview/WA | 2025
Bash can do a lot of things well on the court, from affecting ballhandlers with his length on the perimeter to taking guys off the dribble and getting into the heart of the defense to make plays. He showed some good passing ability in their win over Players Only and should have a solid Sunday to end the tournament.
Layne Weir Layne Weir 6'7" | SF Bonney Lake | 2025 State WA | 6’7 | Bonney Lake/WA | 2025
Weir had a good stretch where he was quickly making decisions from the top, not hurried, but seeing out his options and acting on them. Made some nice passes, was a threat with the ball, and started to take the ball inside in the second half.
Julius Blair Julius Blair 5'10" | CG Parkrose | 2025 State OR | 5’9 | Parkrose/OR | More than Hoops | 2025
His handle and shiftiness were putting pressure on the defense all game from the top. Buried a couple of long-range shots too and showed a nice skill set for someone who can initiate offense and score the rock.
Khaled Artharee Khaled Artharee 6'5" | SF Gresham | 2025 State OR | 6’4 | Gresham/OR | More than Hoops | 2025
So physical inside and just tough to handle for most of the game. He’s always working on the glass and plays a little bit like a wrecking ball, wreaking havoc near the rim.
Kota Truong Kota Truong 5'9" | CG Mountainside | 2027 State OR | 5’9 | Mountain View Middle School/OR | Team Progress | 2027
Showed no fear operating in an older division. Knocked down some tough mid-range shots and showed some good wiggle to get free. He has skills and good IQ, making plays with his vision. Definitely a kid to keep an eye on.
Dayton Jenkins Dayton Jenkins 6'2" | SG Westview | 2026 State OR | 6’2 | Westview/OR | Team Progress | 2026
He was a big-moment guy for his team today. Using nice footwork to get to the rim and finish through traffic. Got kind of saucy at times, and with his length was able to hit shots over the top of tight defense. Great body control and mindset to attack downhill.
Amaar Coleman | 6’0 | Franklin Pierce/WA | Seahawks Elite | 2025
The lefty was quick with the ball in his hands and can create space to get his shot off. A pretty good athlete too that seemed to have defenders back on their heels quite often.
Joe Stimpson Joe Stimpson 6'0" | CG Jesuit | 2026 State OR | 5’10 | Jesuit/OR | Players Only 15u | 2026
One of the more impressive players of the day, he was able to get to the rim and convert tightly contested shots, get to the foul line, and used all that to set up a really tough-to-guard pull-up jumper with great elevation.
Jay Kennedy | 6’3 | TC Elite
Scrappy kid that played high-energy defense. His activity was good across the board and was constantly in the mix making things happen.
Alex Barrameda | 5’9 | Newark Memorial/CA | OTD | 2025
Good boxouts, nice work on the glass and some good follows for second chance buckets. This kid did some of the little things out there today and worked hard to contribute. He showed some good footwork as well.
Damario Pride | 5’10 | Newark Memorial/CA | OTD | 2025
He was getting to the rack and had good rise when lifting off to the rim. Strong takes paired with solid defensive effort on the ball made him a big factor for OTD.
Shaun Acosta | 6’3 | James Logan/CA | 2025
Great hustle, good anticipation on defense, and a competitive attitude helped him make some plays to swing momentum, gathering steals and timing up blocked shots on the defensive end.
Isaac Norris Isaac Norris 6'0" | CG Graham Kapowsin | 2025 State WA | 5’11 | Graham Kapowsin/WA | Prospect Kids | 2025
Norris showed a lot out there today. Handled pressure well with his dribble, working through late doubles, and showed some great vision on the drive with dumps and kicks. Pretty good physicality too and chipped in some boards.
Aly Desouky Aly Desouky 5'9" | SG Skyline | 2025 WA | 5’9 | Skyline/WA | Prospect Kids | 2025
Scrappy guard who can make some things happen off the bounce with good burst on the first step and taking off to the rim. Showed some potential on defense too, although he let himself get caught overcommitting at times.
Marcel Jones Marcel Jones 6'1" | CG Garfield | 2025 State WA | 5’11 | Garfield/WA | Prospect Kids | 2025
He was hitting consistently from the mid-range with good set-up dribbles and was really fluid moving from dribble into the shot. Used picks well too and was patient attacking off of them to create space and catch defenders off-balance.
Jabari Pugh | 6’1 | Fortune/CA | Team Rize | 2025
He’s a long, quick wing-type that handled the ball a fair amount. Shot a lot from the outside though he was best getting to the rim and found some nice spots to attack. Pretty bursty kid and showed good athleticism when he got inside.
John High | 6’4 | Twelve Bridges/CA | Team Rize | 2025
He’s a bigger kid that works hard inside with a good motor, getting in the mix on the glass and pumping in buckets at the rim. Even stepped out to knock down a three-ball and showed some nice potential.
