Anthony Bruce Anthony Bruce 5’10” | PG Lutheran East | 2024 State OH Jr is a dog. He has that edge and swagger to him when he plays. He competes his tail off and plays with so much passion. He has this confidence and swag because he’s got the game to back it up. The kid is a true three-level scorer that does most of his damage around the rim. He’s got some great touch around when finishing with both hands. He uses his great handle on the ball and dribbling moves to create attacking angles. He controlled the game offensively for Next Level Basketball. He also showed great leadership by communicating with teammates and playing so hard.
Cercone jumps right off the court to you when you watch him play. He is built super strong and athletic with big broad shoulders. He uses this athletic ability to win both ends of the floor. He moves his feet really well defensively and keeps everyone in front. He also can guard every position because of his strength and quickness. He also used it offensively with his great slashing ability. He slice through the defense and finished around the rim often. He also has a good high-arcing jump shot. He got consistent buckets for Corey Graham Elite and was the difference in the game I watched Sunday morning.
Whorton ceiling is super high. He is a big kid, listed at 6’8, and has a good thick build that you can see developing. From what I saw it seemed like he could also grow a couple more inches. If he does grow a couple more inches, this kid is going to be a problem. My favorite thing about this kid is his motor. He played almost the entire game and played hard too. Ran the floor consistently and contested almost every shot in his vicinity. He is a good finisher with both hands. He should have some real good footwork and movement with the ball in his hands close. He was a great rim protector and rebounder. This kid has the chance to be special.
Highlights
Toombs was really impressive for Nova today. He is a big strong kid that has a solid build. He showed some great ability to score around the rim. He got to the rim often and was very efficient. Finished well with both hands. I was really impressed with his ability to slash to the rim from the perimeter. He is a straight-line drive that takes it in strong. He’s got some sneaky good bounce. This and his strength allowed him to finish great through traffic. He absorbed contact well. Toombs also showed the ability to knock down a shot if left open.
