Today, we take a look at the players from the Standout Prep 17U squad from the SWMO area. After watching two or three of their games, he are some thoughts on the seven players that we watched.
Bradley Henry Bradley Henry 6'3" | SG Mountain Grove | 2024 State MO : A thick-bodied 6’3″ 2024 guard from Mountain Grove who uses his physical strength very well to get buckets on power drives to the basket. He is very sound with the ball and he makes the right play. He will find the open teammate on the dribble penetration or he can also pull up to hit the 3-pointer off the dribble. He is also a good rebounder who can start the break without the outlet pass.
Clayton Garrison Clayton Garrison 6'2" | SG Chadwick | 2025 State MO : A 6’3″ 2025 guard from Chadwick who is a tremendous athlete who seems to be everywhere on the court because of his high motor that never stops. He can slash into the lane for swooping layups and dunks on offense and he gets chase down blocks on the defensive end. He crashes the offensive boards well with a quick second and third jump. He has a nice pull up jumper from the mid-range with good elevation and he can also knock down the 3-pointer. He is one of the top Class 1 players in the state.
Caleb Ray Caleb Ray 6'1" | PG Lebanon | 2024 State MO : A 6’0″ 2024 point guard from Lebanon who has smooth handles and is very shifty in his movements with the ball, which can keep defenders off balance. He uses ball fakes well and he can change speeds to get into the lane where he can score in traffic. The lefty has good court vision to go along with his nice feel for the game and a nice stroke from 3-point range.
Landon Campbell: A 6’5″ 2024 forward from Mansfield who was very productive in the games I watched as he used his length and played with excellent energy. He plays the top of his team’s 3-2 zone defense and he stayed active and got deflections. He works the baseline well where he finished well at the rim on drives and nice cuts to the basket. He can also beat opposing bigs off the dribble with the slicing drive to the basket.
Wyatt Carr: A 2024 point guard from Lebanon who liked to push the ball with good pace. He stayed low of the dribble and was very effective on his penetration into the lane, which created problems for the defense. He also had good defensive instincts as he used his quick hands to strip ball handlers while also darting into the passing lanes for steals.
Jalon Cryer Jalon Cryer 6'2" | CG Hartville | 2024 MO : A 2024 guard from Hartville to plays a solid game which keeps the offense flowing whenever he is on the floor. The ball doesn’t stick in his hands and he keeps it moving and he’s moving as well without the ball. He sets screens and he works to keep the floor balanced. He has a nice shooting stroke from 3-point range and he can also hit the mid-range jumper or the layup of one of his nice cuts off the ball.
Jake Garner: A 2025 forward from Ozark who played a physical game around the basket. He doesn’t mind contact as he worked inside for buckets and rebounds at both ends of the court. He was also a dependable secondary ball handler against pressure defense.
