Here are the next five guards added to the 2025 rankings:
49 – Brady Hurla Brady Hurla 5'10" | PG St. Marys | 2025 State KS , 5-foot-10 point guard, 2025, St. Marys:
Hurla has already played in a lot of huge games for St. Marys. He got some experience on the Bears’ run to the state title game in 2022 as a freshman, so he was ready to take a big step as the point guard for a team replacing a lot of parts but still talented enough to compete. Hurla is a slick ball handler and distributor, and he can really shoot it from deep. He earned first team Mid-East League and was honorable mention by KSHSAA.
51 – Caleb Hepner Caleb Hepner 5'11" | CG Ottawa | 2025 State KS , 5-foot-11 combo guard, 2025, Ottawa:
Hepner is an athletic guard who gets after it at both ends, crashing the boards and attacking off the dribble. When he gets his hands on a defensive rebound, he quickly sparks the break. He’s dangerous on the perimeter, hitting multiple threes regularly. As a sophomore he was honorable mention by KSHSAA and was voted second team in the Frontier League.
52 – Cameron Boswell Cameron Boswell 6'1" | SG Hiawatha | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-1 guard, 2025, Hiawatha (pictured):
A deadeye shooter for Hiawatha, Boswell was the lone sophomore to earn all-league in the Big Seven, in which he was voted to the first team. He received honorable mention from KSHSAA as well. The lefty is tough and physical and has good size to get his shot off.
53 – Jamie Sarmiento Jamie Sarmiento 5'7" | PG South Central | 2025 State KS , 5-foot-7 guard, 2025, South Central:
A gritty guard who can run to transition buckets and get shots in the lane, Sarmiento was named third team 1A Div. II by KSHSAA. He also was voted second team in the SPIAA. On a really good team that advanced to state, Sarmiento dished out 2.5 assists and created 3 steals per game. He was at his best against top competition. He got 14 points against the veteran guards of Greeley County, then netted 18 points in the consolation win over Axtell.
54 – Luke Albers Luke Albers 5'11" | CG Cunningham | 2025 State KS , 5-foot-11 shooting guard, Cunningham:
Albers put together an impressive stat line, averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals for Cunningham. He earned second team 1A Div. II from Sports in Kansas. He was named first team in the Heart of the Plains League.
