Stoney Hadnot
Stoney Hadnot
There is not enough that can be said about Stoney’s game. Every time he is on the court, he never fails to impress and always makes whoever is guarding him put in the extra work just to stay in front of him. Hadnot has a variety of different ways to score the basketball, including cutting to the basket for a thunderous rim grazer showcasing his athleticism or calmly burying a jumpshot from beyond the arc or the midrange. Stoney is also a willing facilitator when he needs to be, never hesitating to keep his teammates involved. In a blockbuster Sunday matchup against the Houston Defenders UA team, he showed that he can clearly put his name with the best of the best putting on a stellar performance that put his team above and beyond the competition this weekend. Let’s just go ahead and state the obvious.. I think the whole city of Houston would be shocked if Stoney does not go D1 when it is all said and done with his high school career. We will continue monitoring his performance throughout the summer, but I only expect improvement from here on out.
Jaylen Fenner
Jaylen Fenner
Jaylen had a great last game of the tournament against 2PMB on a loaded Sunday full of star studded matchups. Fenner made himself stand out, scoring the ball from all three levels of the floor and guarding up on defense. I was impressed by Jaylen’s quickness and agility to always stay in front of his defender and get several fastbreak scores off steals. He was never afraid to be super physical with his matchup, making sure they were never comfortable handling the ball and always keeping his eye on the ball. Jaylen also brought the ball up the court several and made the most out of when he was put in isolation situations, usually breezing past his defender to the rim and finishing an easy shot at the basket. Look for Jaylen to have a big upside the rest of the summer as long as the team keeps feeding him the rock and letting him work.
Deandre Jones
Deandre Jones
Deandre was a big time scorer for his team in their 17u matchup on Saturday against SBG 2024. Jones is highly underrated as one of the best sharpshooters in Houston, and is definitely making his case for it over the grassroots season as if its not already clear enough. Jones was one of the focal points for his team, making it look easy on both ends of the court. Deandre is quick on his feet on defense and was able to lock up his matchup, notching some steals to help his team gain an early advantage. He has been impressive every time I’ve been able to watch him in action. Deandre will play a huge role in the North Shore lineup next year as he will be looked to take on more responsibility as one of the leaders on the squad.
Javion Jacobs
Javion Jacobs
Javion was a big force for his team this weekend, as he dominated under the glass and on the perimeter. Jacobs was relied on to score the basketball and did so with great efficiency, even against high level competition. He has a very versatile game, able to score either with his back to the basket or spotting up for an open jumper on the perimeter. Javion is also highly aggressive on defense, rising up to block shots under the rim and making it hard for his matchup to beat him. In my opinion, I think he was one of the most underrated players in Houston coming into this summer and he has definitely proven that theory to the public as well this grassroots season. Court Kingz has been able to have a lot of success through his play and will continue to rely on him for tough buckets when needed.
Daniel Williams
Daniel Williams
Daniel’s guard instincts were on display in their Saturday afternoon game against CME Elite. Williams carried a lot of responsibility bringing the ball up the floor every possession and did not disappoint. Daniel was big time in facilitating for his teammates and his unselfish play resulted in several easy buckets for his SBG squad. Williams also was creative in making his own shots and netted several buckets off the dribble, as well as driving to the basket on the pick and roll. Daniel will look to step into a big role next year at BMT United and carry more responsibility scoring wise. Look for Williams to continue this offseason momentum wherever he goes to hoop.
