Deadric Fikes
Deadric Fikes
Deadric was a big time player for his RL9 squad in their big time matchup against Texas Takeover East. Fikes dominated the boards and was a monster on defense, sending shots away left and right at the basket. One thing I really like about Deadric’s game is that he has the ability to shoot it outside as well as use a variety of post moves in the paint to score the rock. He has definitely been proving himself to be one of the top forwards in the 2024 class this season, continuing his momentum from school season into grassroots basketball. Look for his stock to continue rising upward.
Toby Princewill
Toby Princewill
Toby has given Tx Takeover a huge boost this summer playing up on their 17u travel team. His presence has brought significant help on the defensive end, especially guarding the perimeter and paint. Princewill shows exceptional lateral quickness and great ability to put immense pressure on ballhandlers he is matched up with. Toby also has great athleticism and glides to the basket on offense when he gets past his defender. He can score from all three levels of the floor, but usually doesn’t need to given the amount of success he has finishing under the rim. His production is special, given that he is playing up against better competition than he otherwise would have at the 16u level.
LJ Andrews
LJ Andrews
LJ shows tremendous ability to score the basketball from all three levels of the floor on offense, and is a great contributor on defense, guarding anywhere he is needed. Andrews is classified as a stretch four, with his ability to shoot the three ball and play in a spread offense with great awareness. Andrews is underrated with his awareness on both ends of the court and he is really starting to show that he can be utilized at a high rate. His timing to block shots on defense is also exceptional as well, timing his jump to contest every shot under the basket. Look for Andrews to continue playing at a high level as we get further into the summer.
Dalton White
Dalton White
Dalton showcased his offensive skill this game, scoring many of his points from beyond the arc on the perimeter. White also demonstrated his ability to score in the paint, using a couple of spin layups and post fades to shoot over his defender and get the ball in the hoop. Dalton is very vocal on the defensive end of the court, always letting his teammates know where everyone is and keeping tabs on his man at all times. He also was a part time facilitator on Saturday, bringing the ball up the court to help beat the press and setting up the offense when needed with his playmaking. A lot of teams will envy having a guy like this due to his skill set and ability to play either forward or guard. Look for Dalton to keep up this impressive level of play as the competition gets tougher!!
