The young men in this article are true ball hawks that create havoc on the defensive end. They have a nose for the ball and create multiple turnovers per game. The upcoming season will be an exciting time for us at Prep Hoops as we watch them compete in their junior season on the court.
Mathew Hatfield
Mathew Hatfield
Mathew Hatfield is a 5’11” point guard that plays for Mingo Central High School in West Virginia. Hatfield is an electrifying point guard that plays defense at a high level. Hatfield is the head of the snake that makes Mingo Central go. He has quick feet and quick hands that help cause deflections which leads to multiple turnovers per game. Hatfield was the number one ranked steals leader for Class AA this past season with 38 in 19 games. Hatfield is an exciting player, and we are looking forward to what he can do in his junior season.
Shay Harper
Shay Harper
Shay Harper is a 6’1″ shooting guard from Roane County High School in West Virginia. Harper is relentless on the defensive end. His on the ball defense is a staple for Roane County. Harper covers the best player on the opposing team more often than not. It is a challenge he accepts every game and thrives on the defensive end. Harper is the 2nd ranked steals leader in Class AA for the state of West Virginia. In 23 games last season, Harper stole the ball 45 times. We look forward to what he will bring to the table for Roane County in his upcoming junior season. If anything, Harper will be a player to watch on the defensive end.

Chayce Adams Chayce Adams 5’9″ | PG Trinity Christian | 2025 State WV is a 5’9″ point guard from Trinity Christian High School in West Virginia. Adams is a pest on defense creating multiple turnovers per game with his on the ball defense. He has fast hands and quick feet to stay in front of opposing players. Adams was the 3rd ranked steals leader in Class AA for the state of West Virginia. We anticipate Adams doing big things for Trinity Christian in the upcoming season and look forward to watching him on the defensive end.
Lucas Kniska
Lucas Kniska
Lucas Kniska ia a 5’11” shooting guard from Trinity Christian High School in West Virginia. Kniska is a stud on the defensive end. He is fast, relentless and uses his quickness to get multiple steals per game. Kniska is the 4th ranked steals leader for Class AA in the state of West Virginia. In 25 games played, he stole the ball 42 times. He will most certainly be a player to watch for Trinity Christian in his upcoming junior season.
Rhett Johnson
Rhett Johnson
Rhett Johnson is a 5’11” point guard from Ritchie County High School in West Virginia. Johnson is a polished defender that creates havoc with his ball hawking defense. He is tough nosed, has good anticipation and causes multiple turnovers per game with deflections and steals. Johnson was the 5th ranked steals leader for Class AA for the state of West Virginia. Johnson comes into his junior season as a top notched defender and looking to add to his resume on the defensive end.
