I watched as many as the 31 17U teams as I could and ended up seeing 26 of them.
I also caught some 15 and 16U games.
Here were some of the top assist players I viewed that I did not mention yet:
Jayven Price Jayven Price 6'0" | PG Mountain Pointe | 2023 State AZ Mountain Pointe (Steven Hunter Elite 2024)
A quick point guard who likes getting downhill. He controls tempo and led The Pride this year. He has long arms and broader shoulders to defend. He has a nice touch on his shot from the perimeter and will throw up the court passes, drive and kicks and controls the game with his pace.
Doren Sacha Thomas Jefferson (New Mexico D1 2024-1) (Pictured)
A pure dimer always looking to set up his teammates. He can catch and shoot from the three point line and has a cerebral approach to the game. When left open, he will splash in multiple triples but his passing stood out this weekend for me.
Xavier Johnson PG 5’10 2024 Annapolis Area Upper School (Team MD Stars 2024)
A quick point guard can blow by his defender and get to the basket. He moves the ball and the ball doesn’t stick. He changes speeds really well and can burst by his defender and throw the dime. He plays like a son of a coach would with a huge IQ for the game.
Sergio Cordova PG 5’9 2023 Lourdes Catholic (Legion of Hoops 17 Navy)
A tough stocky guard can dime his teammates and make shots from the perimeter. He has a strong upper body and lower base combined with his tight handle to make it tough to steal the ball from him. His passing and strength stood out.
Zamar Jones PG 5’11 2024 Meade (Team MD Stars 2024)
A pure point guard is a good passer with a thicker build. He has next level court vision and can hit the catch three. He has a floater and runner game and uses his body to get into the lane to score.
DeShaun Hendrix DeShaun Hendrix 6'0" | SF Hamilton | 2026 State AZ Hamilton (AZ Grassroots)
A strong point forward with an elite feel for the game. He will drive and kick it often to make plays. He has a stronger frame to handle the pounding and will find players on the norm. The lefty can in and out and use his right hand to score. He will also rebound inside and block shots in his area.
Dom Lott PG 6’0 2026 Ridgeline (Arizona Firestorm 2026 Hunter)
A freshman point guard with pretty good size and strength. He was one of the better passers of any freshman I viewed. He threw some up the court on a rope in transition and will drive and kick it. He scores getting downhill and can make a perimeter jumper.
Zane Connelly Zane Connelly 5'9" | PG Dysart | 2024 State AZ Canyon View (Team Rise N Grind)
Another pure point guard with a high IQ for the game. He is a little undersized but has a tight handle and made a couple no look passes in stride. He plays with a real feel and can pull-up from mid to the three and plays with some moxie.
