Bash in the Desert: 17U 3rd Team

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On May 5th-7th the&nbsp;<em>Prep Hoops Circuit</em>&nbsp;was in town. We have the&nbsp;<strong>Bash in the Desert&nbsp;</strong>with teams around the West and even some from the Midwest. Two locations with the Phhacility in Phx/AZ and Inspire Courts in Gilbert/AZ.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I watched as many as the 31 17U teams as I could and ended up seeing 26 of them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>These teams are a combination of teams performance and players performance.&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">17U 3rd Team</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1220369' first='Darius' last='Anderson'] Dysart (Team Rise N Grind 2024)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A versatile forward had a good showing. He can rip thru and score in traffic with high sturdy build and will dunk the ball. He can shoot the three with more and more success in the last two years and looks to be a nice last minute pickup.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1334830' first='Nigel' last='Anderson'] Dysart (Team Rise N Grind) </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A quickly improving forward is getting more fluid. He scores on driving layup in traffic, he rebounds well and is a sneaky good passer as he is improving his feel for the game. He handles the ball better and makes good reads plus will block shots. He takes long strides to the basket and has good body control.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1444279' first='Isaiah' last='Berg'] Mica Mountain (AZ Premier 2024)</strong> <strong>(Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong framed power forward is getting more and more skilled as he is aging. He can fall away from the high post and will catch and shoot from the three point line with a quick release. He is a very good passer and his rebounding is high level using his bounce and strength. He scores around the rim and is a tough cover. His passing really stood out.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1633019' first='Brandon' last='Farley'] Florence (Steven Hunter Elite)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A skilled unsigned senior who can shoot the three and get to the basket. He is a really good rebounder in his area and is one of the better shooters in the class. He gets to his spots on the court and is a sneaky good passer. He showed he has an all-around game.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1336435' first='Tyler' last='Hutton'] Cactus (D1 Nation AZ 2024)&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long wing forward will be a big bonus to Cactus this season. He has deep range on his three point shot and will flush it down on the break. He has a big wingspan to rebound and collect steals in the passing lanes. He always seems to play the right way.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1757699' first='Paris' last='Strozier Jr'] Thunderbird (AZ Firestorm 2024 Black)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A defensive minded guard can pick some pockets of the opposing teams guards. He is very good around the rim to score with long strides to the rim. He is a quick twitch athlete who rises up fast to rebound, block shots or score.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Josh Thompson SG 6'3 2025 Rancho Bernardo (Gamepoint IE 2024)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Only a soph but he has a lot to like. He can catch and shoot from the three point line and has a really smooth handle and can rise up and shoot it. He gets downhill with a quick first step and can euro to the basket or use a nice runner with long strides. He has range on his jumper and he is a sneaky good passer.&nbsp;He made a couple plays a game that really catches your eye. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
