Take a quick look at some of the varying talents looking sharp so far in the AAU season.
Cade Orness Cade Orness 6'5" | PG North Kitsap | 2024 State WA | WA Supreme | 2024
Orness is a dimer. He isn’t getting as much time at point guard as he has in past AAU seasons or for his high school team, but he still knows how to run break to perfection and has a tantalizing skill set for a guard his size. Athleticism, vision, and IQ are just a few of the skills he brings to the floor, no matter which guard spot he lines up at.
Jaxon Dubiel Jaxon Dubiel 6'3" | CG Mountlake Terrace | 2024 State WA | D1 Elite | 2024
Dubiel didn’t make a ton of noise offensively when I watched last weekend, but he still has the skills to affect the game in every other category. His length, motor, and instincts help him affect the game on the glass, creating turnovers, and as a big-time finisher in transition. Don’t get me wrong, he can score the ball, but the way he fills in the rest of his game is the part that makes him the prospect he is.
John Floyd John Floyd 6'4" | SG Stanwood | 2024 State WA | D1 Elite | 2024
Floyd has emerged as a high-level rebounding guard that can also get going scoring the ball. He has a nice lefty stroke from outside but also mixes in the pullups from mid-range, and can elevate pretty decently going to the rack. He shows some good toughness working on the glass and could be in store for a big season in the winter after breaking out this past year.
Tait Spencer Tait Spencer 6'3" | SG Great Futures Prep | 2025 State WA | Oregon Prospects | 2024
Spencer looked bigger and stronger than during the high school season when I saw him step on the floor at Cali Live. He got off to a bit of a slow start against BDH Elite, but was able to find his footing and made some nice finishes at the rim, primarily when he got to two feet and used his power and balance to his advantage. He’s a guy that put up huge scoring numbers in the high school season and should be on people’s radars this summer.
Aiden Moore | NW Greyhounds | 2024
I had not known about Moore before last weekend but he really impressed with his ability to spot up and space the floor, or knock down 3’s in advantage situations in transition. Like most good shooters, he can get his shot off quick and always looks ready to shoot.
Demaree Collins Demaree Collins 6'2" | CG Skyview | 2024 State WA | NW Greyhounds | 2024
The bouncy lefty showed he can get it at the rim or from behind the arc last weekend. When his shot is on, he has a beautiful lefty stroke that finds nothing but bottom. He had a strong string of games at Act 1, earning a Second-Team nod at the 3SGB.
Ryan Lafferty Ryan Lafferty 6'5" | CG Mt Spokane | 2024 State #320 Nation WA | NW Rotary Rebels | 2024
The Mt Spokane guard struggled offensively in their opening game of the Georgia EYBL session but he didn’t let that stop him from bringing the heat defensively. At 6-foot-5 he can pose real problems for smaller guards with his length, quickness, and strength. He was grinding on that side of the ball for much of the game and should see better offensive days ahead.
Collin Moore | Jones Academy | 2024
Jones Academy has a lot of talent on the roster and Moore came off the bench to make sure there was no dip in the action. He brought a high-level of activity on defense both off-ball and on-ball, and displayed a pretty nice handle on the other end using it to shift the defense and open up some space for teammates.
