Since our last update, our team of scouts has continued gathering new insights on this crop of players by keeping tabs on players throughout the last few months. Here are some players made the biggest jump in the rankings from the last update as the biggest stock risers.
Cody Vassar-Steen Cody Vassar-Steen 6'2" | PG Farmington | 2024 State NM | PG | Farmington: Jumped from #7 to #4. Cody Vassar-Steen Cody Vassar-Steen 6'2" | PG Farmington | 2024 State NM had a breakout junior year for the Farmington Scorpions. He averaged 20.7 points per game as the states 11th leading scorer. He can play on and off the ball really well.
Brandon Kehres | SG | Organ Mountain: Jumped from #14 to #6. A near double-double threat that played his best basketball against some of the state’s top talent. Averaged 13.7 points per game and 8.7 rebounding per game for the Knights while leading them to the 5A State Semifinals.
Joe Jack Joe Jack 6'3" | SF Albuquerque Academy | 2024 State NM | SG | Albuquerque Academy: Jumped from #13 to #8. Averaged about 20 points per game this year and solidified himself as one of the state’s top players with his play during the 4A State Playoffs. He played his best basketball of his life in the 4A State Championship Game.
Julian Chavez Julian Chavez 6'2" | SG Valley | 2024 State NM | G/F | Valley: Jumped from #20 to #13. The breakout player of the year in my opinion. Was the Valley Vikings leading scorer averaging 15.3 points per game. Led the Vikings to the 4A State Semifinals and was one of the states most efficient players in the community.
Tyler Kozlowski Tyler Kozlowski 5'10" | CG Valley | 2024 State NM | SG | Valley: Jumped from #19 to #14. One of the states top sharpshooters that added to his game this year. Because you have to respect his outside shot, Tyler Kozlowski Tyler Kozlowski 5'10" | CG Valley | 2024 State NM has a nice pump fake to open up his mid-range game. He averaged 14.3 points per game for the Valley Vikings this year and helped them earn a trip to the 4A State Semifinals. They should be right behind the Albuquerque Academy Chargers as the second-best team in the 4A Class heading into next season.
Julian Arroyo Julian Arroyo 6'0" | PG Lovington | 2024 State NM | PG | Lovington: Jumped from #29 to #20. The Lovington Star had a career year increasing his scoring total from 8.0 points per game as a sophomore to 17.9 points per game as a junior. He was just outside the top 20 in the state in scoring.
Charles Lopez-Burton Charles Lopez-Burton 6'0" | PF Valley | 2024 State NM | PF | Valley: Jumped from #53 to #26. An underrated post player who is exceptional and impactful around the rim. Knows how to use his body and gets second chance opportunities for himself and his team. Averaged just under 11 points per game for the red-hot Valley Vikings this past season.
Yeh-Nhi Wilson Yeh-Nhi Wilson 6'3" | CG Organ Mountain | 2024 State NM | CG | Organ Mountain: Jumped from #70 to #31. Averaged 9 points per game and was the Organ Mountain Knights third best player this year. He was a great fit on a team-oriented basketball team. Played a big reason why the Organ Mountain Knights made a surprise trip to the 5A State Semifinals.
Justin Mask Justin Mask 5'11" | SG Albuquerque Academy | 2024 State NM | CG | Albuquerque Academy: Jumped from #61 to #32. Arguably the most important player on the Albuquerque Academy Championship roster. Was the team’s best passer, a solid rebounder and scorer who can fill up the stats sheet.
Josiah Marfil Josiah Marfil 5'9" | PG Rio Rancho | 2024 State NM | PG | Rio Rancho: Jumped from #46 to #43. A very scrappy and tough defensive guard who can space the floor with his three-point shooting. Does a great job against other opposing offensive guard by staying in front of them and not fouling. He is very physical and a tough guard to go up against.
