But Kavon Bradford Kavon Bradford 6'2" | CG Benson | 2023 State OR was unquestionably a part of Team Oregon for WAVOR the Game and his selection for the squad was warranted. The Benson senior put together an incredible final campaign of high school basketball and as he now ponders the next step, he can look back on the 2022-23 season with a lot of pride.
“Obviously, the goal is to make it to state and try to win championship, but God had other plans for us,” Bradford said. “I’m just grateful that Igot opportunity to have a great four years at Benson. Freshman year, I was more just a scorer, but as I’ve gotten older and older, my assist numbers and getting everyone involved and leading people has definitely gotten better.”
As he did his entire prep career, Bradford got things done with his scoring (20.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.6 rpg). But where the 6-foot-2 senior made strides was with his passing – his average of 7.5 assists per game ended up leading all of 6A.
“I’ve always had the points in the rebounds, but it’s just mostly about getting other guys involved, making them feel good, and them getting confident in themselves,” Bradford said. “I definitely became more of a leader and more of a true point guard.”
From here, Bradford is hopeful for the future. He had previously received an offer from Southern Oregon and continues to maintain contact with them, and has also received interest from JC programs and prep schools. At this point, everything is wide open.
“I’m not really too sure 100% on what’s going to happen with me moving forward, but I’m definitely going to keep playing basketball,” Bradford said.
Bradford noted that he could play club basketball in a couple of tournaments this spring, but is not 100 percent sure yet when and who he’ll be playing with. He currently ranks as the #5 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2023 rankings.
