Friday Fabulous
Kyle Counts Kyle Counts 6'7" | PF Wilsonville | 2024 State OR (2024) |6’7 F| DENY Basketball 2024
He was the best BIG that I saw tonight. Counts has great feet, skills, and handles. In the first half, Kyle dropped a no-look dime off the dribble. 6’7″ players are not supposed to dish like that! This kid has great eyes and passing touch. He handles it well in the open court but can also seal and score at the rim. Counts scores with both hands and he gets to the line often. His spin-move is noteworthy. On defense, his length bothered people and I like how he contests without fouling. The Oregon BIG looked like a scholarship player tonight!
Jacey Canalin Jacey Canalin 5'7" | PG Wells | 2024 State OR (2024) |5’8 G| DENY Basketball 2024
He was not the biggest player on the court but he plays fast & furious. Jacey has silky smooth handles and he can make the D look silly. His crossover is noteworthy and I like the looks of his floater-game. Jacey has impressive ball skills, he made multiple 1-handed passes that looked easy. Canalin has a great feel for the game.
John Troolin (2024) |6’3 G| Minnesota Heat Jones 2024
He is a shooter, that is for sure! Troolin is a good-sized guard with a sweet stroke. He will also score through contact. I like how he attacks downhill and his body control is noteworthy. Troolin scored over double teams at the hoop. His freeze-dribble was awe-inspiring, He got game!
Kevin Armstrong (2024) |6’6 F| Minnesota Heat Jones 2024
He is long and looks like a forward but Kevin has a floater game like Steve Nash! He put in multiple floaters/runners inside the arc. Armstrong has a soft touch and he knows how to use his body to keep the D away from the ball. He put in multiple buckets via the step-through move. He is crafty and skilled. Kevin can also hit the 3-ball. He looks to be a tough matchup with his length and skill.
Jack Erickson Jack Erickson 6'5" | SF Baltic | 2024 State SD (2024) |6’4 G| Sanford Sports 2024 Grey
Shooter! This Baltic Bulldog looked great in the catch-n-shoot game. He sets his feet quickly in transition and his hands are always ready. Erickson also scored off the bounce. He scored over two defenders with a finger roll. Jack was active on D and he tipped the ball for multiple deflections. His team took the loss but Jack was great in the second half.
D’Angelo Parker (2024) |6’5 PF| FTL 2024
Monster! Imposing figure around the hoop. Parker had a monster WHAM that shook the hoop in an impressive fashion. This Florida player is tough and powerful. Parker is a tough matchup because of his height/strength and his motor that never slows down.
Victor Fundora (2024) |6’1 G| Team ESBY
He is slim but athletic and tough. Victor scored 19 points and hit four triples in the Friday night win. He is long and smooth. Victor has a sick pull-up game. The lefty hit from close, mid, and deep. This Texas kid is a player!
Tyson Stevenson Tyson Stevenson 6'2" | SG Hamlin | 2024 State SD (2024) |6’2 G| Sanford Sports 2024 White
He had a hot second half! Tyson willed his team back into the game. He is a Charger in the high school season but Stevenson looked like a dawg tonight. Tyson scored going to the rim and with a sweet J. He finished with 17 points and put SSA in position to win the game. It was easy to see why he was All-State in high school ball. Expect a big Saturday from Stevenson!
