Upward Stars SE 3SSB Pee Dee Cruise in Opener:
The Upward Stars SE 3SSB Pee Dee squad cruised out to an easy win on Sunday with us in attendance. The Red, White and Blue squad based out of the Pee Dee (Florence area) had plenty of equal contributions today. Damon Howey Damon Howey 6'0" | CG Camden | 2024 State SC , Ty Stanley Ty Stanley 6'4" | SF Georgetown | 2024 State SC , Keenan Dubose Keenan Dubose 6'2" | CG Darlington | 2024 State SC , Daniel Burton Daniel Burton 6'8" | PF Wilson Hall | 2024 State SC and Michael Green Michael Green 6'8" | PF Darlington | 2024 State SC were just a few that led the way.
Upward Stars Columbia Wins Big:
Madden Collins Madden Collins 6'3" | SG Christ School | 2025 State NC and Alex Atkinson Alex Atkinson 6'9" | C Lower Richland | 2024 State SC had strong performances for the Upward Stars Columbia team in a Sunday victory. Collins a combo guard won a Class 4A State Championship this past season at Irmo HS. Madden puts his teammates into good situation to make winning plays. Collins can score the ball from all 3 levels on the floor.
Atkinson a long and rangy forward covers a lot of ground on the floor. Alex can step-out to the perimeter and knockdown the perimeter jumper from time to time. Atkinson has the ability to defend out on the perimeter at times and shows to have good hands.
Harvey Leads the Way in Win:
DJ Harvey DJ Harvey 5'10" | PG Christ Church | 2024 State SC scored 24 points in a victory over the Palmetto City Hurricanes today. DJ connected on 4 three-pointers from downtown in the victory. Harvey was able to get the ball into the gaps and touch the paint today. Kayzzin McDowell Kayzzin McDowell 6'2" | SG Byrnes | 2024 State SC and Brady Poole Brady Poole 6'1" | SG Chesnee | 2024 State SC both chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively.
Iturbe back with Team Curry 17U:
Julen Iturbe Julen Iturbe 6'8" | PF Riverside | 2024 State #234 Nation SC is back running with Team Curry on the Under Armour Circuit this season. Iturbe attends Riverside HS in the Upstate. He plays extremely active on the floor if it comes to setting screens or picking and popping from the perimeter. Julen can stretch the defense with his ability to face-up or post up down on the block.
Upward Stars SE 3SSB Fagan 17U Win Big:
Zeke Marshall Zeke Marshall 6'5" | SF Westside | 2025 State SC and Nick Sweet Nick Sweet 6'3" | SG Powdersville | 2024 State SC had nice games in an easy victory on Sunday for the Upward Stars SE 3SSB Fagan squad over the Grindhouse Lakers. Marshall plays aggressive at all times while on the floor. Sweet is constantly around the ball to make a play for his team.
Shine Was a Shining Star Today:
DJ Shine DJ Shine 6'1" | PG Brewster Academy | 2024 State NLG came to play today in a big way for Upward Stars SE 3SSB 3SSB 2024. Shine a guard from Augusta (GA) Christian finished with 34 points in a win over Garner Road. DJ finished with 8 three-pointers and simply just plays the game with ice in his veins at time. Shine NEVER seems to play bad with Prep Hoops in the gym it seems.
He won a back-to-back SCISA Class 4A State Championship this past season for the Lions. He played great back in December at The Baron Classic and a week later at The Bash.
