They have produced many high level players and have a plethora of hoopers that have gone on to play at the College and Professional ranks, including Division 1 and the NBA. During the circuit, the Rens have once against reloaded with a ton of talent from all four classes. Here is a look some Rens players that college coaches should have a close eye on this spring and summer.
Betsey is a long and athletic hooper that can get a bucket at will. He has a variety of moves with the basketball, which when combined with his length and athleticism make him a tough matchup for any defender and position. Betsey has the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish through or around defenders, while also being able to heat up from behind the arc. He can also rise up on on the defense for dunks and throw down alley oops from teammates. Betsey’s circiuit is off to a hot start, standing out last weekend at the KYDA invitational.
Harper is a tough guard that holds an array of offers. In January, Harper narrowed hisnlist down to 5 schools, which are Auburn, Duke , Rutgers, Kansas and Indiana. Harper’s skillset was on full display in the to start off the spring at the USA basketball camp, and the NERR Hoopfest. He is a crafty lefty, with elite ball handling and finsihing ability. Harper also has the ability to create open shots for both himself and his teammates, block shots on defense, and crashes the boards on both ends of the floor. He was this years New Jersey’s Player of the Year.
Ryan Hempfling

Hempfling is a versatile big that recently transferred from Loomis Chafee School to Blair Academy. Hempfling helped lead his school to a number one NEPSAC A ranking during the season. Athlough having the ability to play down low, Hempfling can stretch the defense with his ability to hit from outside. Hempfling also has the ability to find open teammates and play within the flow of the game. On defense, Hempling’s mobility allows him to serve as an anchor. Hempfling had some big time showings already this spring at the KYDA invitational and the East Warm up.
Malachi Palmer
Malachi Palmer
Palmer is a tough guard, that knows how to use his strength to power through opposing defenders. He also knows how to read the defense and go and get a bucker consistently and in a varety of ways, especially in the mid-range, having a lethal jumper off the dribble. During the high school season, Palmer put on some big performances including 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead Mt Zion to a 92-85 win over Skills Factory. He is a big time stock riser that many college coaches have an eye on.
Brandon Lee
Brandon Lee
Lee can score the ball in bunches, which he showed during the high school season, when he had 41 points against OSL Regional, a game where he also hit 8 threes. He also had a 30 point game against South Shore. Lee is a smooth shooter off the catch, that has a knack for moving and getting open without the ball. He also has the ability to knockdown shots with a hand in his face, or even after a foul. Lee picked up an offer from NJIT this season, and one can expect more on the way in the very near future.
